Family pizza night tips with Pillsbury Pizza Crust #PBPizzaNight

We do family pizza night at least once a week.  Personally I’ll do pizza up to 3 times a week, but don’t tell my wife.  However, every Friday I cook pizza for the boys.  We usually buy the pre rolled pizza dough in the plastic container at the grocery store.  However, recently I got an email* by Mr. Poppin’ Fresh himself, letting me know that the Pillsbury Pizza Crust is new to the market.

Daddy Mojo reviews Pillsbury Pizza Dough. It's simple to use and it tastes great

A good biscuit does not a pizza crust make, but we do love pizza so we’ll give it a try.

We’ve gotten to the point where we like our pizza a certain way.  However our two small children aren’t as experimental as us. If it’s just my wife and I eating then we’ll add mushrooms, peppers, ground up bacon, fresh tomatoes or other things that strike our fancy.  If it’s just the kids eating then it’s bare bones simple, cheese, pepperoni and nothing, not even a glimmer of anything green on it at all.

Daddy Mojo pizza tip, coat the crust with butter and garlic before you bake it

The dough pops out of the tube the same way that their biscuits do.  Initially it makes you jump, but that’s half of the fun isn’t it?  We were cooking with our 4 year old and he really jumped, which was hilarious.

Tip:  We coat the dough with a mixture of melted butter and garlic immediately after we unwrap it.  Be sure to get the immediate underside of the pizza dough and sprinkle some extra garlic salt on the exterior for good measure.

Cooking the new Pillsbury Pizza Crust was simple.  It does require a 5 minute pre-cook where you remove it from the oven after that period of time.  That confused us for a millisecond, but after that we were back to the basics.

Tip: If you’re in a hurry use a pizza cutter to slice up the mushrooms, pepperoni, peppers or whatever.  It’ll do it almost as well as a food processor, but in just a couple of seconds with no clean up.

Once it’s pre-cooked add the sauce, cheese and whatever you’d like on the pizza.  Pop it back in the oven for about 9 minutes and your pizza will come out all but perfect.

Tip:  You can dig some coupons on the Pillsbury website.

It was easy to make and, much to the surprise of my wife, was better than the pre-rolled pizza crust we sometimes purchase at the grocery store.  I’ve made a couple pizzas using the Pillsbury Pizza Crust and the thin crust is definitely the best.  It provided more slices and simply tasted better.

Pillsbury Pizza Crust review by Daddy Mojo

Bottom line:  The Pillsbury Pizza Dough was much better than expected.  The last couple of bites along the crust are outstanding, even if you don’t do the butter/garlic trick.

Also:  Our friends at Man Tripping cooked up some pizza using the dough with Spam and other things.  Dig their write up for great pizza using the universal meat.

*Recap: If you make pizza, bacon, comic books, computers or beer you’re fast tracked to a review here.  Granted sometimes the fast track isn’t lightning quick; but it’s a review and not a sponsored post.  🙂
