Skyward #6-action oriented all ages comic that you’ll like too

Skyward #6 manages to straddle the line between fable, fairy tale and action so perfectly you don’t know exactly how to define it.  I hesitated calling it all ages comic because it’s so entertaining and has so much action.  But after re-reading it I couldn’t find anything that would be scary to a 5 year old or objectionable for their parents. It’s a cool all ages comic book that any age can read, enjoy and want to share with their children or dig into it solo.

Skyward #6 cover

We reviewed a Skyward comic for Halloween Free Comic Book day and I was really surprised at how much I liked it.  It has realistic comic book style art with muscular men, athletic women and strange worlds.  Certainly any comic book could be described as that but one thing that stands out about Skyward it that, while the men and women in the comic are muscular and pretty, they are not the boom anime babes that make me think the wrong thing.  Nor are all the men in the comic muscle bound dudes who look unrealistic and strange.

And if they are really large muscular they’re probably a Rabite.  The Rabites are a group of rabbits, some bigger than others, especially Jaa their leader, who have recently established a truce with a group of four humans.   Quinn is the youngest of the humans, he’s a tween that young readers will most be able to relate to.

His dad gave him a sword that can do amazing things, but other people are after it too and will do anything to get it.  Which leads to Quinn’s traveling companions, Jon, Abigail and Tanner.  Jon is a teen warrior in training, while Abigail is the female teen friend-who is also a warrior and source of teen angst for Jon.  Tanner is the role model warrior (and Jon’s dad) for the humans who also uses his wits to help him win battles.

If you’re looking for a true all ages action comic that adults can read (and actually enjoy) and that children can read without feeling like they’re getting a baby comic, Skyward #6 is it.   You can find it at your local comic book store or online at Comixology.
