Going to the World of Coca-Cola? Get the Explorer app

Hey tourists-welcome to Atlanta!  If you’re coming in the summer, it’s going to be hot, but we’ll still be friendly.  One of the places that you’ll most certainly visit is the World of Coca-Cola.  Being a local this was one of the last attractions that I visited in the city.  However, the more I visit, the more I enjoy it and the Explorer app that they’ve release will help visitors regardless if it’s your first or fifth visit.

World of Coca Cola exterior

When you visit the World of Coca-Cola you’ll enter a large white room with television screens everywhere.  This is the area where you’ll wait for 7 minutes or so until you enter a larger Coca-Cola red room with hundreds of advertisements and products through the years and places.  It is here that a tour guide will run through some history, tell some jokes and entertain you for about 6 minutes.

This room releases you into a movie theater where you’ll see a surprisingly good short movie about Coca-Cola.  It’s obviously done with a keen eye towards global relations, but the movie is really effective regardless of where you’re from.

World of Coca Cola main lobby

When we first went to the World of Coca-Cola the three areas of waiting frustrated us.  Once you go through it you understand how it works and can appreciate it more.  My style of tourism is to explore, I’m not one for being told where to go or in what order to do it in.

After the movie ends you’ll enter a large white lobby, this is where the Explorer App for the World of Coca-Cola is worth having.  I say worth having, it’s free, so if you’re going to the World of Coca-Cola, download it because it’ll help you explore at your own pace and show you some neat tricks.

World of Coca Cola map

The Explorer app has the map of course.  It’ll show you where all of the exhibits are and provide a detailed look inside the exhibits once you’re in them.  This is cool.  It prompts you at certain spots to take photos, dig deeper for more information and makes the entire World of Coca-Cola more entertaining.

World of Coca Cola polar bear

Previously we were just walked through and enjoyed it, but didn’t do anything.  The Explorer app encouraged us to stop, relax more and enjoy the facility more.

World of Coca Cola photo mash up

When you enter the Taste It! exhibit, which is the last one you can sample the different flavors of Coca-Cola from around the world.  The Explorer app walks you through the different beverages so that you can remember for your next visit or write them down.

Welcome to Atlanta!   The World of Coca-Cola is worth visiting and when you do, download the Explorer app to make it easier and more fun.
