Our #RockportChallenge, the review (& giveaway) of the shoes you need to know

We received the shoes for review.  All thoughts are our own and sometimes I do things just to annoy or get a rise out of my wife.  When we were offered the chance to take part in the #RockportChallenge (more on that in a moment), I looked over the shoes and my initial thought was “what is the most unlike me”?  I then showed my choice to my better half, she said oh no, blah, blah something, but then my mind was made up that these were my next new shoes.

Truth be told, I did listen to her after a moment and she said, “well, if you like them”.  My mind was still made up and the Parker Hill Desert Boot would soon be on my feet.  The look is much more hip than I am used to.  I’m no fashion troglodyte, but my look rarely, OK…. it never changes.   I’ve been wearing loop colored shirt and concert tees ever since I sold vintage clothing 13+ years ago.   I’m the Haley’s Comet of men’s fashion.

When I wear long pants it’s usually tan slacks, a loose fitting shirt and shoes.  I might mix it up with blue jeans and a t shirt, but that’s about it.  I’m a fashion constant, for better or worse.

The #RockportChallenge is all about guys getting out for a Guy’s Night Out.  I’m the co-chair of the Atlanta Dads Club and I wish that we had more chances to get together.  The ladies do it with much more regularity than us guys.  Girls night out is common, yet the guys night out is rare, usually displaced by an afternoon game of golf, football on TV or casual late day trip to a local haunt.

Case in point, for my #RockportChallenge I spent four days at The Type A Parent Conference.  It was a blast, but my schedule is such that a guys night out isn’t in the cards now for me.  However, I wore the shoes for four straight days and was comfortable the entire time.  Not only comfortable, I looked like a more handsome, fashionable version of me.

What will you plan for your #RockportChallenge?  Will it be like me and have the same pants and shirt that you normally wear?  For the record, I don’t recommend that.  Step outside the box a bit, wear that 80’s concert t, your dark jeans and get a mojito.  Also, if you haven’t tried boot cut shoes you will love them.

All Rockport shoes have ADIPRENE technology by Adidas Sport that help cushion the heel with shock absorption.  This sounds like hyperbole shoe nonsense, until  you cue the redshirt Star Trek character as they perish alongside my hyperbole about it being just tech speak.

The Parker Hill Desert Boot shoes from Rockport are now the most comfortable shoes that I own.  The exterior leather is soft and easy to clean and you feel like a rock star when you wear them.  My strides were longer and after four straight days of wear my calves, ankles, feet and fashion sense felt great.
