Test driving the Ford F-150 during our working staycation

We were compensated to review and drive this vehicle.  All thoughts are our own. As a family we have big and small things, as well as growing people that are carted around every day. Certainly there are days when we need a truck and the massive amount of storage space.  There are big things that I didn’t pick up when we tired the Ford F-150 that I’m kicking myself for.  Our experience with the 2014 Ford all new F-150 is that it’s a big truck that can do lots of hauling and typical truck stuff, but also has the safety and creature comforts that one expects from a family vehicle.

One example of this is the seat belts.  The real inflatable seat belts in the Ford F-150 inflate once the crash-sensing system is activated.  It goes from a normal seat belt to large pillow like thing in the blink of an eye due to the cold compressed gas that flows through the buckle.     For me, the dad who mainly has the kids in the back seat, that is a plus.

Another powerful safety bonus for parents is the 360-degree camera.  From inside the vehicle you have a bird’s eye view of every side around the truck.  There is a camera in the front, on each mirror and on the back that allows you to navigate tight trails to narrow parking spots.

Driving the Ford F-150 we liked its interior space and comfort for the family.  It’s spacious and the kids in the back seat could not even come close to kicking the front seats.  There are also lots of technical tricks that make driving a pickup a simpler experience for those that aren’t used to driving them.

The tailgate has a remote feature that allows it to be unlocked, locked and lowered with the key fob.  Once the tailgate is down it lays flat, which allows for more comfortable seating when you’re at the game, camping or just in the drive way resting from moving that wood that you purchased.

Boat owners will dig the trailer hitch assist.  It’s a new rear view camera that helps drivers line up the truck without needing a spotter to hook up the water craft.

The Ford F-150 picking up lumber

When we had the truck we simply drove around town, explored some areas that we don’t get too as much and had fun with the kids.  We went to Turner Field and as this is Atlanta, got stuck in traffic, lots of traffic.   It was a staycation of sorts where we got some lumber and enjoyed a quieter, more spacious ride than we were used to.
