Animal Tales by Key Wilde & Mr. Clarke-it’s all ages music you want to hear

Children’s music can send shudders up the spine of people.  It’s too sleepy, dopey, boring or just too much childlike to interest the children, much less the adults who are driving the car.  I am a children’s music novice, but I’m learning that there is some fabulous music out there for children and the adults who will be around them when said music is on.   Key Wilde & Mr. Clarke is a great example of children’s music that kids will want to listen to and that adults will (really) enjoy listening to as well.

Key Wilde & Mr. Clarke have been playing together since 1993 and released their first album in 2010.  If you listen to Kids Place Live on Sirius/XM then you’ve heard them before.

Animal Tales is 13 songs all about animals.  Disclaimer:  our son loves animals, absolutely loves them.  As soon as he heard the animals being talked about in the first song Animal Kingdom he was a fan.  The fact that he liked it wasn’t a surprise.  The fact that I and my wife liked it so much was a total surprise.

Animal Kingdom is a catchy toe tapping number that lays the all ages audio greatness that follows. Witness Bear Song.

What is equally as surprising was how professionally played and musically adept Key Wilde & Mr. Clarke are.  Prior to this release I grouped children’s music in the same rough category as Christmas albums; just because, well it’s Christmas and even when the artists aren’t trendy Christmas will always happen.   Someone will always listen to bad Christmas music and people will always listen to sub-par children’s music, because well, children.

I discovered that children’s music can be great.

We alternate between our favorite songs on Animal Tales.  Sometimes it’s Platypus, Bear Song or Armando Armadillo.  Without a doubt my wives’ favorite is Armando Armadillo.

What makes the songs remarkable is how they weaved in real facts about the animals into the music.  Plus, many of the songs are genuinely funny.  Adults will like the music and humor, while children will like the silliness, animals and fun they’re having.  Additionally, the music is not the same genre.  Name a mainstream genre of music and it’s represented in Animal Tales.  It’s a world party greatest animal hits if you will because no two songs sound alike.
