Peanuts #24 is how an old school cartoon should age

There is this new all age comic book called “Peanuts”.  It’s the story of a group of kids, a friendly dog who thinks that he’s a fighter pilot and a curious yellow bird named after a 60’s rock concert.  Of course you’ve heard of Peanuts before, it’s a 60 year old comic strip that’s been made into holiday specials, numerous book and is classic.  What is surprising is how well-and effective the new stories in the Peanuts comic book are for new readers or old school fans.

In Peanuts #24 there are three new stories and a couple classic Peanut comic strips that Charles Schultz published when he was still alive.   To the casual fan there is almost no difference between the two styles.  Those longer fans who read all of the strips from the 50’s and 60’s will notice that Lucy looks like she did back then in a couple panels.  The panels are also bigger than the strips that older fans are used to reading.

I mention those things to reinforce the fact that the new stories in Peanuts blend in seamlessly with the classic strips. The new stories are 5-7 pages and have the same sweet stories and great characters that you know and love or are introducing your children to for the first time.

Peanuts 24 art and story

Peanuts is all age comic book fun at its best.  It lets parents introduce characters that they know to their children.  It also lets fans of the characters follow them in their new stories that are consistent with the quality that they’re used to.  Peanuts is comfort food for the comic book soul.  It brings a smile to your face and is pleasant to read from start to finish.
