The Adventures of Chuck & Friends: Rev Your Engines review

Chuck is back with a new DVD.  This is Chuck & Friends, the kid friendly truck with his worker friends and a Tonka by another name to parents of a certain age. The Adventures of Chuck & Friends: Rev Your Engines has 10 episodes and a bonus sing-along.  Our kids are 5 and 3 and this is the sweet spot for the show.

Each episode is 12 minutes and teaches lessons about sharing, responsibility, friendship and family.

Chuck is not our children’s favorite show, but it’s always a safe bet to keep the kids entertained.  Because the episodes are 12 minutes and some other children’s programming is 8 minutes you get a little extra time, if you need it.

Yes, parents gauge the activity that they are doing in how many episodes of this show it will take.  Depending on the meal we can prepare it in one Chuck, sometimes two chucks with a little personal relaxation time.

Chuck & Friends isn’t just for boys, but they’ll most likely enjoy it more.  There are a couple girl characters in the show, but they’re not major players and rarely focus into an episode as a central figure.  Having said that, when Chuck gets into trouble or makes a poor decision; it’s usually is his mother that corrects him and lets him the error of his ways.

Having said that, my wife likes the values that the show teaches and will sit down for an episode or two with the kids.  Chuck’s brother also appears in a couple episodes.  He’s a dirt track racer and teaches the boys lessons about sharing, life and such.  As a parent, this character is great for the kids because it’s peer to peer teaching, which is a quicker way of learning than parenting.

The Adventures of Chuck & Friends: Rev Your Engines DVD is good viewing for children 2-6.  The show airs on The Hub TV Network in the U.S. and Treehouse in Canada.
