Denny’s Denny’s and eating out with the children

Denny’s Denny’s and eating out with the children #ad

I’m a Denny’s Ambassador and was compensated for this post.  All thoughts are our own because, bacon and children. For a two year period, when I lived in Japan I ate at Denny’s at least once a week.  You’re in a faraway place with any number of food options, but sometimes, you just want what you know. For the record the food was just as delicious and affordable as it is in the states. Now that I’m a dad I took the boys to Denny’s for their first time and here’s what we learned.

They love to order their own food.  The pictures that they have on the kid’s menu are big and simple for them to understand.  That was perfect for Charlie whose verbal abilities aren’t quite up to his brother’s.  He could point and yell, much to the delight of the servers who really (and surprisingly) liked seeing two manic children in the restaurant. I learned that he likes chocolate chip pancakes…and has since requested chocolate chips on everything.

Jake pointed to something on the menu too, but followed it up with additional requests.  I think it was for extra bacon, something that I dutifully agreed to without hesitation. He made quick work of the Penguins activity sheet too, occasionally asking for help on how to do one of the word scrambles. The bear cup also proved to be a hit.  He’s enthusiastic about animals and putting one in the bottom of a cup encouraged him to drink his orange juice double time. If they had a way to hide vegetables over a plastic animal and have him eat his way to the bottom it would be worth its weight in gold.

From the hundreds of times I ate at Denny’s in Japan, to when I ate there in college in Greenville, NC to our most recent trip in Atlanta one things stands out.  It’s consistent and affordable.  OK, that’s two things, but they’re good friends and it’s OK to have them side by side.

The menu is diverse and reflects what you want to eat.  Breakfast, low calorie, steak, shrimp, avocado cheeseburgers, smoothies or more are all on the menu.  Sit at the diner area where the bar stools are if you’re more of a hurry or get a booth if it’s a sit down thing.

The Denny’s Denny’s in the title isn’t a typo or some strange Google trick.  NASCAR racer Denny Hamlin is a big fan of Denny’s.  He teamed up with Dennys’ to create the world’s only, Denny’s Denny’s.  It’s an authentic Denny’s booth that travels on the road with him when he races.  If you’re going to any of the races this season just check his schedule to visit Denny’s Denny’s. At some stops Denny Hamlin will be at Denny’s Denny’s to hang out autographs and giveaways.  They’ve got some other cool contests on his Denny’s Denny’s website too.

Oh, another bonus about Denny’s is that kids eat free Tuesdays from 4-10PM.  They’ve got other specials too.  However, they passed on our idea for an unlimited bacon plate special. To find your closest Denny’s just dig the link and enjoy the cooking.
