The Tiny Traveler Egypt and France: armchair, toddler education

The Tiny Traveler Egypt and France: armchair, toddler education

It’s a different world now isn’t it?  When I was a kid it seemed so large, foreign and unapproachable.  The Tiny Traveler France and The Tiny Traveler Egypt are cardboard books designed for kids two and under about colors and shapes.  When the books arrived I took out the France book to show our oldest some of the monuments in France.  I sometimes start out things with a question, so I asked him, “what’s this?” pointing to the Eifel Tower on the cover.

“Eifel Tower”, he calmly said.

“How did you know that”, I asked.  He didn’t say, but it was testament that kids know things at a much earlier age than I did back in the day.

The Tiny Traveler series are high quality, cardboard page books that are fun for little people to look at. The pages give readers a nice look at places of interest in France and Egypt and then break those places down into colors or shapes.

Young readers will see a silhouette of the dancer’s red dress near Moulin Rouge. They’ll also see the gray of the Eiffel Tower, as well as, the blue of the tower at night when it’s lit up. The most obvious shape that you can think of in Egypt is the pyramids and the triangle. They’ll also see an oval that is a jar, the hexagon that makes up the Sphinx’s head and many others.

These are fun little books that sell for $5.99 and throw a neat spin on teaching simple concepts to young children. We’ve seen some that are presidential based like these and realistically every local place of interest probably has them too.   The international angle to these books is a nice hook though. They’ll see my travel photos one day, but before that these books are a nice, sturdy option for them practice on.
