Boogie Board redefines writing and is simple to use

I’m slow to get certain things. When I was introduced to the internet my initial thought was ‘why would I want to know what the weather is in Cairo’?  This was especially ironic because three weeks later I needed to know the weather in Cairo.  The internet was too great for me to comprehend at first. That is exactly the way I interacted with Boogie Board. Great, I’ll be going to the beach in a couple weeks and could use a Boogie Board, was my first thought when asked if I wanted to review them.  However, after trying them out, taking them to meetings and using them I get Boogie Board and see how it can revolutionize writing and taking notes.

The Boogie Board comes in five different sizes, each one doing something slightly different; but all of them offering the real feeling of pen to paper writing, but on a tablet. Think of an Etch A Sketch, but being able to synch up to your computer, smart phone and being able to save papers when you need more space.

We tried the Boogie Board Jot 4.5 and Boogie Board Sync 9.7. The first time I realized that the Boogie Board Sync 9.5 was cool was when I took it to a meeting.  I was passively taking notes and hitting the save button when my page was full. As we were walking to the next meeting I got more than a couple looks, stares and questions about what the heck that skinny orange tablet was.

What is great about using the device is that you’re not typing or having to carry around a computer. Plus because you’re using a pen stylus to make the notes you can draw shapes just as easily as you can do shorthand. There is also something organic and more personal about writing your notes. I could maintain eye contact with the speakers more easily and paid closer attention because my mind could work the way it was trained. Below you’ll see some actual notes I took from a meeting.

When I got home all I had to do was sync the device up to my computer and the notes appeared in my Evernote account. They are saved as a vector PDF and can be edited using a variety of illustrator programs. This device is great for artists, engineers or those that work in a heavy visual or creative field. It allows you to create on the go, save the project in a manner that you can export it, as well as, easily share it on social media, email or sort it according to tags.

We also tried the Boogie Board Jot 4.5. This is the little brother in family and is about the size of your smart phone. It comes with a protective cover and a stylus to make notes with. Unlike the other four tablets, this is the one that you can’t save your notes or art. We use this one for our grocery list, random notes or a way for the kids to practice writing their letters.

The 9.7 retails for $99 and is great for students, professionals or anyone that needs a dependable way to take notes and have them saved to your computer once you get home. The 4.5 is $19.99 and can have any uses around the house like a digital chalk board or practice for your children to count or write.

If you go to meetings you’ll immediately get how amazing the Boogie Board is. As we are out of the 9-5 work routine I had forgotten what a labor it is to take notes during a presentation. This is your new best friend.
