Last minute Mother’s Day gift pickup at Sears for the last woman I’ll ever pick up

This is a sponsored post on behalf of Life of Dad and Sears. I have received compensation for this post; however, all opinions stated are my own. To be clear, the last woman that I’ll ever pick up was done about 15 years ago. She was wearing a Santa hat and we were at a fundraiser that some friends and I organized to raise money for animal shelters. Over time something’s have changed in our relationship, but one constant is that I do not like shopping. To that end Sears has launched a new service that allows you to shop on your smart phone, arrange for local pickup and then have the item delivered to your car as you wait outside. Sure this weekend is Mother’s Day; but the real gift for me is not having to go into the mall with the kids.

The other great thing about my wife is that she tells me what she wants. Note to other mothers: it is OK for you to physically write down what you want. Sure I could find something she’d like, but I’d rather get her something that she already likes.

She mentioned that she wanted a dress; I know that she likes A line dresses. For us that’s simple to remember because I always picture Mr. T. saying “I pity the fool who buys the wrong gift for his wife.”

We opened the Sears app, searched for A-Line Dresses and found a couple cute numbers that she’d be quite happy with.  We selected one, deleted that; got another one and then some shoes for me. Even online I’m a bad shopper with the attention span of a cat video.

When I finally decided on the dress and pair of shoes that I wanted I clicked on the cart and told the all powerful internet that I wanted to pick them up at the store. Moments later I received an email letting me know that the order was received and to let them know, via the app when I was at the store.

Days later I finally got around to some errands with the kids. Not wanting to subject them or me to the tedium that is going inside the mall I parked outside, opened the Sears app and let them know that I was ready for pickup. Just like that a counter starting going up and the sign in front of me stated that we’d be done within five minutes.

Sure enough at 3:40 the two packages walked themselves out to the car. My Mother’s Day shopping was done and I had new shoes that didn’t smell, which in itself is another present for her.

  1. Clothes are one thing my wife will NEVER let me buy for her. Nice your wife trusts you to help her with fashion styling. Now to be fair with my poor sense of style not only should I not be buying her clothes but probably shouldn’t be picking them out for myself either. Hope your family has a wonderful Mothers Day!
