Google Chromecast Audio brings new life to old speakers

The reviewer has been compensated in the form of a Best Buy Gift Card and/or received the product/service at a reduced price or for freeI stream lots of music. Odds are that you do too and that has left you (and until recently us also) with a small problem regarding the pairing of your device to the speaker. For us it was akin to the password paradox and pairing the device or a dropped connection led to our favorite speaker going dormant for over a year. Google Chromecast Audio is the Rosetta Stone to your speaker and music streaming needs.

All you need to do is plug in the speaker into a power source, plug Chromecast Audio into aux/line-in and prepare to have all your music coming from the same speaker. You complete set up by going to chromecast.com/setup, it’s here where your laptop, phone or tablet will find, via the app, Chromecast and your music will never be the same.

Currently we steam lots of music from YouTube, they’re great for some of the J-Rock that I like. However, we also have some variety stations on Pandora and Tune In. Each one of those outlets has a mood, genre or artist that I’m in the mood for and only that particular thing can satiate my empty ears at that point in time. What’s more, once the app is added it will recommend other audio apps that are not currently on your device.

The benefit to Google Chromecast Audio is that it does not require each app to pair with the speaker.  ‘Searching for pair’….not no more you aren’t. Google Chromecast Audio takes the apps, makes them work through its circular device and pumps out the jams to your speaker. It’s so ridiculously simple that it’ll amaze people who see it.

There is no more ‘searching for pair’ at parties. If you’re at an occasion and need a song played louder than your device can handle all you need is a speaker and Google Chromecast Audio. A great example of this, for us, is 70’s Soft Rock Paradise. This is our Pandora radio station that we’ve had for more than 10 years. Whenever we really liked a song we’d add it to that and as a result it’s become our go-to station for when we hear songs that we know will keep us focused. Programming note: contrary to the title it includes lots of electronica, metal, cheese, funk, hair and of course, Yacht Rock.

But before using Google Chromecast Audio that station was landlocked to our laptop. Sure we would occasionally listen to it on the phone; but a phone speaker is not what music was made for and now our kids know the magic of Kenny Loggins, Hall & Oates and others.

Plus the music is sharper, with crystal clear music that’s powered by the all knowing cloud. If you have two Chromsecasts then you can put them in different parts of the house and have the same music/station going on in two areas simultaneously. Your party just took on a whole new vibe.  Because it uses WI-FI, instead of Bluetooth it doesn’t drain your battery as quickly and allows you to take phone calls. Call people, answer calls, adjust the volume or do whatever is needed to keep the party , no matter how you make it sound, going.
