Free Men’s Health Screening at Sam’s Club on 6/11

Hey, we were compensated by Sam’s Club, all thoughts are our own. This Saturday, June 11 your local Sam’s Club locations are having free men’s health screenings. Two of my main reasons for caring about my health are in that photo. To be clear, it’s the two little humans in that photo. While I do love dinosaurs, I suspect that one sharp corner would send him running for the hills. I’m slightly more durable. Do you know a guy who could benefit from a free health screening?

A #Heart2Heart with Pop, wishful thinking and lifestyle choices

Hey, I partnered with Life of Dad and Meta Wellness for this promotion. My dad is not a talker. I’m not a talker either but compared to him I’m Leo Getz. It’s an exercise of patience just to get him to tell me anything beyond how the weather is. Mind you, it is not because he’s not of sound mind, he is just not a talker. Our average phone call lasts about 5 minutes. The Heart 2 Heart campaign is all about men having health conversations with their loved ones. Knowing all of this I called my dad to talk about his health.

My health is better than average; thanks to my wife and my father, both of whom  assisted me using opposite methods. My wife is more of the conversationalist, let’s talk-figure out the problem and not repeat it in the future. I love to watch her and my father talk. He squirms like a worm looking for a wet pile of mud to go hide in.

Denny’s teams up with No Kid Hungry to help hungry kids

Hey, we’re an ambassador for Denny’s. All thoughts are our own. On average one in five children are hungry and don’t receive the adequate amount needed. For years Denny’s has been raising funds for No Kid Hungry since their inception and are consistently one of their largest donors-with your help. That one in five figure varies from state to state, but take it as a county and 16 million kids in the United States are in that boat. Every year Denny’s makes it easy for you to support No Kid Hungry and has donated 2.3 million dollars so far, which provided 23 million meals to kids across the country.

Good memories of a friend of mine #Wishes4Riley

It’s a strange thing when a friend dies. It makes you re-evaluate your life, the way you act and in our case makes us appreciate things. You may have seen Stephanie’s picture floating around social media or on the news about her death. She was an Atlanta mom who went swimming, had symptoms of a summer flu the next day, but that escalated to a loss of all muscle control and then a short three weeks later death.

Mixify brought the message of balance to Atlanta teens

We were compensated for this post. All thoughts are our own. More than 100 teens from across Atlanta joined Atlanta Falcons’ Wide Receiver, Devin Hester, at Centennial Park today as part of the Mixify Tour, a series of events around the country with fun activities, demonstrations, tips and tools, music, and giveaways — all designed to educate teens about the importance of balancing what they eat and drink with what they do.

Melanoma 2 years on: having blood drawn and cracking your head open

It was a little over two years ago that I was diagnosed with Melanoma and went in for treatment. Since then I’ve shunned the sun, have gotten used to clothing with a high SPF, love my hats and saw our Oncologist once a quarter. This past week marked the last time that I needed to see him once a quarter. Now the visits go down to twice a year and then once a year for a couple of years and then, hopefully never again.

May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month-cover up

This is a review and we received the clothing for that purpose. All thoughts are our own and true yo. That title sounds kind of preachy, the whole ‘cover up’ thing. The only reason that I can say it with a straight face is that I had Melanoma and it’s frightening. Woah, you mean I have Cancer, it’s in my skin- has the ability to travel to my organs and this is the deadliest form of Cancer around? They were some of the thoughts that I had that day when I was diagnosed.

Strep, it’s not just for throats anymore

Charlie’s not much of a talker. He rambles on endlessly, but the ratio of intelligible words to cute children mutterings is far tilted in the former.  When he kept saying ‘bum hurts’ we paid it a little attention, but didn’t panic.  On the upside, that is awesome that our child is speaking in British slang.  However, if he says that he wants to wear his fanny pack then we’ll stop his lessons there. Sure enough, his bottom was red, it looked like a little diaper rash, but we’d definitely seen worse.
