Life lessons from the doughnut isle at Publix

I’ve learned that brothers manipulate each other like they are in sales.  If one of them wants something all they have to do is feign not being interested in it and the other one will back off.  This rule holds true unless it’s something that has an attraction so undeniably strong that neither one can fake it.  Enter the doughnuts.  Sometimes I let the kids get a bag of powdered doughnuts.  It was on one such occasion that I was reminded of some life lessons that parents might forget.

Empowering Women Together at Walmart solves your Mother’s Day gift needs

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walmart and Walmart Foundation for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I don’t panic for Mother’s Day.  In a way that by itself is a gift to my wife, a non panicked spouse is a good thing that begets more relaxation.   When you have two children under 5 a calm mom is a great thing to have, or be.  If you’re looking for some nice Mother’s Day gift ideas check out some items from Walmart’s Empowering Women Together line.

Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus: Built to Amaze review

Typically for my birthday my husband and I do a date night to a new sushi restaurant or new bar. This year, though, I thought it would be fun to spend the evening of my birthday with not only my husband but our oldest son as well. We went to see Ringling Bros. Circus, Built to Amaze.  As the circus started after his bedtime he was out-of-this-world with excitement, which made me quite excited too. Other than splurging on cotton candy, I didn’t remember much at all about my own childhood experience at the circus and this was my chance to experience it all again with him.

Don’t judge a beef jerky eating, Harley rider by his cover

I’ve always wanted a pipe wrench.   The name sounds tough, combining two rugged words that make one super jagged word that actually serves a purpose and is made of steel?  That is bordering on testosterone overload.   I have a pair of Channel Lock pliers.  They do roughly the same thing as a pipe wrench.  But if a pipe wrench is Chuck Norris, a pair of Channel Lock pliers is John Stamos. Indiana Jones: The Complete Adventures on Blu Ray-Giveaway

Raiders of the Lost Ark is one of the few movies that stops what we do in the house.  It’s a special bonus if it starts when the boys are asleep so that my wife and I can watch it together.  Continue reading Indiana Jones: The Complete Adventures on Blu Ray-Giveaway
