February Mojo

February is sometimes called Februgly in the northern hemisphere because it’s probably cold, gray and yucky.  Having said that there is a lot to see, do and celebrate in February.  There’s a little heart shaped holiday, summer camp planning and arts & crafts for the kids.

February is American Heart Month.  Dads, don’t forget to get your ticker checked out.  Don’t make excuses, just do it.

February is Children’s Dental Health Month.   They grow up so quickly don’t they?   This link has some cool coloring sheets for kids to teach them about the teeth.

February is also National Responsible Pet Owners’ Month.  If you want to save $ on those shots ask your local humane society, they may do them cheaper than your vet.

February 2 is Groundhog Day.  It’s not nearly as entertaining as the movie.

February 3 is Elmo’s Birthday!!!  He’s your favorite Sesame Street character, admit it.

February 4 is the birthday of Charles Lindbergh and Rosa Parks.

February 5 is Constitution Day in Mexico.  Everyone cross the border and congratulate them.

February 7 is National Send a Card to a Friend Day.  Yeah, Hallmark may have invented this day, but you haven’t spoken to that friend in Michigan in ages.

February 8 is Boy Scout’s Day.

February 12 is Abe Lincoln’s birthday.  One of the tallest and most hat wearing U.S. Presidents ever.

February 14 is Valentine’s Day.  You know the one.

February 15 is National Flag Day in Canada.

February 17 is Random Acts of Kindness Day.  Do you really need an excuse to be kind to random people?

February 18 Pluto was discovered on this day Clyde Tombaugh in 1930.  Walt Disney said thanks.

February 20 John Glenn orbits the Earth for the first time in 1962.  Big props to Joe Kittinger who jumped from space in 1960, paving the way for the U.S. Space Program.

President’s Day is the third Monday in February in the U.S.  There’s no school on this day, just what our Presidents want, a bunch of kids no learning.

February 21 is Mardi Gras Day.  You don’t have to be in New Orleans to have fun today.

February 22 is Ash Wednesday

February 28  Public Sleeping Day or in downtown Atlanta it’s simply called Tuesday
