How to Train your Dragon 2 review: good and not what‘s expected

How to Train your Dragon 2 is the sequel to the 2010 hit about training dragons.  That movie was one of the ones that slipped under our radar in that we never saw it.  However now our oldest really enjoys going to the movies and can handle a bit more action.  A dragon movie is in order and while How to Train your Dragon 2 did scare him a bit; he had nothing but great things to say about it afterwards.

Father’s Day Gift Guide for tech, well dressed, chill dads

Being a dad and running this site I encounter some cool products.  Over the past month I’ve been making a list of them for various reasons.   Some of the items in this Father’s Day gift guide were provided to me for review purposes and some I purchased.  They’re all really cool things and item, items that I love and think that other dads would dig also. Father’s Day is this weekend.  After Sunday dads can go back to sleeping on the sofa, right?  Actually Kmart does a pretty good job of respecting dad’s year round.  Craftsman Tools are a staple to any dad’s garage and the #MoreForDad twitter party on 6/11 at 1PM ET will help fill in any gaps regarding Father’s Day. Planning our Frito-Lay and Skylanders party while saving money-giveaway too #ad

Two things:  it’s good to have fun and it’s good to save money.  Skylanders is also good.  Skylanders SWAP Force is also good fun.    One of the great things about Skylanders is that every kid who plays the game immediately has a favorite and it’s difficult enough to be competitive, but not impossible.   Speaking of a favorite have you voted for your favorite member of the Skylanders Trap Team™ hero finalists yet?

Here is the #PowerofDad that I’m teaching our kids

It’s great fun being a dad. Like it or not those little people, display characteristics that are just like us.  Sometimes in my head I run the highly unproductive argument of questioning if I’m over compensating for my personal flaws in the way that I parent.  But then if I over emphasize something doesn’t that just make them more curious about it and more likely do or try it?  Then the time space continuum bends and that photo of me from high school starts to fade away into nothingness.  Thankfully before that happens I wake up with my Walkman earphones on listening to Van Halen.

The Father’s Day #DestinationDad resort is Sears #AD

Father’s Day is literally just around the corner.  This brings about the whole discussion of wants and needs.  If I need something, like socks or underwear, then I’ll buy it myself.  However, if I want something, I’ll lay subtle or not so subtle hints for the wife.  Sears has you covered with #DestinationDad this year, those with facial hair, manly traits or techy dispositions will all but try to book a weekend stay at their local store to explore the hours of happenings.

Ditch the script on fatherhood #WorldsToughestJob #ad

Recap:  I’m a stay at home dad.  I get the blessing of being around our two children all day long.  It is the #WorldsToughestJob.  Some would view this as an albatross and others as a complete blessing.  And to be honest it all depends on what time of day as to how I would answer that question.   However, once the dust settles my answer will always be that it’s an honor and privilege to be a father.
