St. Baldrick’s is this weekend-Can you help?

It’s a cliché to say that Cancer sucks, but it does.  It’s the world’s worst night club with the DJ only having one song, it’s one you don’t like and it’s being repeated all night.  That song is a Cancer cell, a rogue cell that keeps cloning, over and over.  If it spreads, or metastasizes then it’s going to other organs and will cause real damage, in many cases terminal.  St. Baldrick’s is happening soon, it’s a fundraiser to raise money for children’s Cancer-can you help?

Are you going to a St. Baldrick’s event this weekend? You can support the cause in advance or when you show up-either way it’s going to a worthy cause.

St. Baldrick’s is the distant relative to Movember, except instead of growing hair you’re shaving it.  Lots of people this weekend will be at various locations around the country shaving their heads.  It’s a safe bet that the Irish bar closest to you will be packed all day on Saturday and it won’t just be because it’s St. Patricks’s Day weekend.

St. Baldrick’s is where average folks who otherwise might have a head full of lovely, flowing hair are shaving it off to raise money for children’s Cancer.  Children’s Cancer is especially vile because there are over a dozen types (and even more sub-types), it’s not related to lifestyle and by the time it’s detected there’s an 80% chance that it’s spread to other areas of the body.

Even thinking about it I want to smack it around like a two dimensional movie bad guy from Die Hard.  Unfortunately, it’s no movie and every three minutes another child will be diagnosed with it.  This impacts their family in untold ways in addition to the internal battle that the children must undergo in order to fight it.

If you have a friend shaving their head this weekend they need your support.

If you don’t have a friend shaving their head this weekend, I do and they can use your support.

He started out with a meager goal of $100 and has already surpassed that!  However, Cancer sucks and the St. Baldrick’s Foundation can use any support.  The St. Baldrick’s Foundations spends 80% of all money raised to fight children’s Cancer.  My background is in non-profit management and their records are transparent, plus that’s a high percentage that goes to their mission.
