Denny’s brings the fluff with their new pancakes #DennysDiner

Hey, we’re an Ambassador for Denny’s and were compensated for this post. All thoughts, even the fluffy ones, are our own.  My wife sometimes makes pancakes on the weekends and the boys love them. And they are good-but it turns out that many visitors to Denny’s had the same thoughts. 44% of folks who visited Denny’s liked their pancakes, but thought that the best pancakes were the ones that they made at home. With the gauntlet thrown, the chefs at Denny’s went back to the kitchen and came out with a pancake that is 50% fluffier.

The new recipe has fresh buttermilk, flour, vanilla and eggs. Sure that’s close the same as the recipe you’re using at home, but (no offense to my wife) these are much fluffier. Does a fluffy pancake equal a tasty pancake? The taste aspect you’ll just have to trust me on, however, the size aspect we have proof.

Here’s a picture of some of the pancakes that we ate in early June. Granted it’s not the exact same angle, but look at the top and side of the pancakes. There isn’t as much depth in them and there are not any air pockets (for lack of a better term) in the sides of the pancakes. They also don’t look as tasty, rather monochrome and simple, don’t they?

Now look at the pancakes using the new recipe at Denny’s that we had the other day. They are much thicker, have visible holes on the side and seem to actually have flavor on the top of them. We had blueberry pancakes that day and that accounts for some of the color, but even excluding that they had more life and did taste better.

Have you ever had okonomiyaki? It’s a fabulous Japanese dish that can essentially be described as a meat pancake with shrimp, lettuce, veggies, tonkatsu sauce and fish flakes.  Take out everything but the pancake and that’s what the new Denny’s pancakes tasted like to me.  It’s a thicker tasting pancake that really tastes better and makes it part of the meal rather than being just bacon’s pillow.

And nobody wants to be simply known as bacon’s pillow, do they? One option to try the new pancakes from Denny’s is the $4 All You Can Eat Pancakes deal. It’s as awesome as it sounds and is a double rainbow experience of goodness that you are unable to, no matter how hard you try, replicate at home.

We tried the new Double Berry Banana Pancake Breakfast.  I went with the kids, we were rebels and had it for lunch.  They helped eat too much of my bacon, were confused about the skinny, squished up French fries (hash browns) and quickly ate up the fruit on the pancakes. After that we all shared the pancakes and ended it up with a series of chocolate milk shakes to go.

Bonus: Tuesday’s from 4-10 and kids eat free with your meal.
