The Force is strong with this giveaway. Fans that saw Star Wars in movie theaters back in the day were thrown for a loop when they announced that a cartoon would be made. Dismay, anger and puzzlement ensued. However, we saw Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion and were incredibly surprised at how good it was. Put the light sabers away, this movie and this show does the classic story justice and will entertain all ages.

Millennia from now when people dig up entertainment time capsules from the 90’s they might, depending on the size of the capsule, find the complete series of CatDog in there. CatDog aired on Nickelodeon from 1998-2005 and has that look of Ren and Stimpy without being as crude, for better or worse. It’s the tell-tale animation that looks distinctive, rough and usually has characters with lots of moxie.

Adventure Time: The Complete Fourth Season comes out on Blu-ray and DVD on October 7. We don’t have cable so I had never seen it prior to receiving the DVD. I was familiar with the name due to comic books, but was unfamiliar as to how large of a presence they have. However, just a look at the show makes me realize that this is something that I should like. I asked the neighborhood boys who are 7 and 10, if they liked Adventure Time. I was met with a resounding YES and they are not alone after watching it.

The Simpsons Family History: A Celebration of Television’s Favorite Family is not what I expected but I am 100% OK with that. I expected a blow by blow account of how each episode is made and some photos from the animators and voice over artists doing their craft. In reality the book is soup to nuts how Marge and Homer met, fell in love, had kids and found Santa’s Little Helper. It features art that is taken from the source that reminds viewers of the art that is at the root of the longest-running American sitcom, longest-running animated series and longest- running primetime scripted series.

As summer turns to fall and the kids go back to school I’m thinking about the great things we did the past three months. During our summer vacation we spent some time with the family and a handful of 7-13 year olds. Because not every day was sunny, they had to watch television and it was at this time that I was reminded of how superior Pee-Wee’s Playhouse was to every children’s live action show ever made.

Holy cosplay! Dragon Con yielded an amazing amount of things to see & do-and it’s not even over yet. After two days at Dragon Con here are some of the best images that we’ve taken.
