Craftsman workwear with Teflon fabric, review & freebies!

At several points in my life a large majority of my clothing had paint, dirt, rips or scuffs on it.  My wife once said that I looked like a cat burglar because I was going to sleep in all black clothing that had paint splotches all over them.  Thankfully she didn’t call the cops on me, but she did make me get rid of most of my handyman clothing.

My handyman work around the house has decreased over the years.  That is kind of a bummer because I love to work around the house and is one reason why I do the feature “DIY a Stay at Home Dad can do”.  When I work around the house now the projects are more fun because I know what I’m doing and are more likely to do them well.

Thanks to the new Craftsman Workwear I’ll also do work around the house in a more stylish fashion.   I know, you’re not supposed to be stylish when doing handyman work.  But, over half of your tools are Craftsman, so it just makes sense to have it on your clothing too.

I was sent a Craftsman Long Sleeve Twill Shirt and Short Sleeve Tee shirt, both of which have Teflon fabric protector in it.  Teflon I know from my pots and pans, so I was curious to see what happens when it’s part of my clothing.

The difference was obvious when I went into the rain with the shirt on.  The rain stopped on the shirt in a thousand little drops of water, not being absorbed into it.  Granted it’s not meant to withstand a rainstorm, but the shirt’s water repellency was amazing.

The Teflon fabric protector in the shirts is designed to repel oil and water.  It’s the same technology that you might have in your favorite chair, except now it’s in your work clothes.

The only downside to the shirts is that I wish they were made in the USA, but they’re made in Pakistan.  Having said that, both shirts do have strong construction and could easily withstand the days I worked in the yard with them.  The long sleeve shirt is warm and retains body heat very well also.

  27. I totally get what you mean about the clothes you choose to work in….my hubby doesn’t get that you’re supposed to wear the junky clothes then because he’s out there in the good stuff, which then has to be replaced. I’d love to get him something like this to wear instead!
