In the mood for art? Check out our board on UGallery

Art is relative, but you know it when you see it don’t you?  What I think is art could be totally different from what you like.  That’s the beauty of UGallery, they have art in all different mediums for sale by the artists.  They also have a Guest Curator page where Bravo TV, USA Today’s Pop Candy, Dujour Magazine, curators from Houzz and some of the nation’s largest lifestyle bloggers have pages with their favorites.  Cue One of These Things is not Like the Other in 3, 2, 1…

On the page that I guest curate for UGalley I look for things that remind me of places I’ve been or moods that I love. You’ll notice elements of the beach, photography, Norway, France, Italy, Japan, animals, Death Valley and pop culture in some of the art that I’ve posted.

List_Bergen_Norway

A good example of things I didn’t expect to like is this painting by Toni Silber-Delervie called Bergen, Norway.  Put Bergen on your bucket list, the entire county of Norway is amazingly beautiful with some of the friendliest people I met while traveling.

I love this painting by Hellenne Vermillion called Ginko Leaves on Black and White because it captures something that anyone who loves nature or Japan may have experienced.  The Ginko tree is one of the most commonly seen trees in Japan.  It’s called the dinosaur tree because it’s one of the oldest trees on the planet and can withstand urban environments.  That is one reason the tree is everywhere in Japan.  The Ginko also drops all of its leaves on one day.  The tree next to it may drop on a different day, but it’ll drop all of them on the same day.  This painting reminds me of what I saw so often during the autumn season that I saw there.

Initially I zoomed through photography, but then discovered that I dig some of the paintings.  I then realized that I liked different styles of paintings and even branched out to sculptures.  In a way it’s like I’ve been asked to make a mix tape and put lots of Rush and Skunk Anansie on it, but then realized that some Janet Jackson, ABBA, Bach and Nina Simone would also go well on it.

Thanks to UGallery for letting me be a part of it and I look forward to putting things up on the board.   If you dig art just pop what you like into their query and something’s bound to pop up.
