How to Decorate Your Apartment: 5 Tips

When it comes to your apartment, finding the style that suits you requires you to do some research to find the style that feels personal to you. It is essential to consider how color schemes and individuality combine to create a space. Here are five tips on decorating your apartment and making it feel personal to you!

1. Decorate With Photos

The easiest way to personalize your space is to decorate with photos of friends and family. You can create a gallery to display throughout your apartment to feature some of your favorite images. You can choose the frames and display layouts that make the most sense to you and your style. Wooden surfaces can create warmth and connection, and shadowbox frames can add dimension.

Additionally, consider looking into custom picture canvas for a modern take on picture framing. You will enjoy seeing reminders of your favorite memories every time you notice these photos in your apartment.

Coming clean to knowledge and laundry with LG at Best Buy

For example, it wasn’t until we got married that I separated the colors from the darks. Sadly, some of her clothing items were the canaries for my coal mine-laundry experiences. My clothes were already used to the milquetoast, middling of the clothing that had been happening in my world for years. I simply needed a better class of washer. For people like me, LG is coming clean with some great options at Best Buy, deals and I realized that I need a Sidekick-and not the superhero kind.

It’s time to tackle the elephant in the room with DIYZ® App

This post is in collaboration with DIYZ. All opinions of apps and companies that help me complete DIY projects are my own.

We needed to do something about our kitchen. It’s not that we’re selling our home; we just need to be ready in case it has to be sold quickly or we wanted to stop cooking in a room that hadn’t been updated since Growing Pains first aired. Combine that with the fact that Mother’s Day is coming up and we had to get going. Do we paint the kitchen cabinets ourselves or  have someone else do it or get all new cabinets? That final choice was far too expensive and hiring someone to paint kitchen cabinets would’ve cost upwards of $3,000. With a little encouragement from DIYZ App we jumped into a relatively simple, but at the same time gargantuan task of painting our kitchen cabinets.

Me?, #ISleepTo get things done and love life #ad

I partnered with Life of Dad and Beautyrest for this campaign, but my opinions are my own. Enjoy it while you can. That’s what many people joking said about sleep before we had children. It was a glib comment for sure, but it was true and more accurate when the kids are younger. Now that our kids are marginally older (see: out of diapers and the crib) our night time sleep habits have somewhat returned to normal. That fact has been brought to the forefront since we started using the Beautyrest Sleeptracker Monitor.

To the new parents I say to them, enjoy those naps and relish that REM sleep. Rapid Eye Movement, I remember an interview from the early 80’s from Michael Stipe when he said that he knew REM made it big time when people stopped asking him what the band’s name stood for. For the first couple of years some parents might also forget what REM stands for.

The Nalgene Marvel Collection makes drinking water super

“Mommy, now I have a water bottle just like you” is what our 7 year old said. It made her feel all warm and fuzzy because it was an identifying and bonding moment that those two shared. For us it was more about super hero street cred. His Nalgene Captain America bottle from the Marvel Collection can accommodate 32 ounces of water for those hikes, bike trips or simply playing in the back yard.

When I was a kid finding cool Marvel stuff was challenging. There was this one kid who always seemed to have cool Marvel clothing, but I suspect his parents were on the Comic Con curve before the rest of us. Uphill both ways, that’s the lesson for our children.

Dig the Best Buy Tech Home, future tech for the now

The reviewer has been compensated in the form of a Best Buy Gift Card and/or received the product/service at a reduced price or for free. In the early 90’s I lived near Celebration, Florida where they were testing the house of the future. The main piece of technology that I remember being in awe of was a television that could record live TV without a large rectangular box next to it. Fast forward 20 plus years and the Best Buy Tech Home makes its first appearance outside of their headquarters.

DIY do-over or dreaming, enter the #FixMyHouseSweeps from ServiceMaster

If you own a home there is a great chance that you’ve worked with ServiceMaster in one way or the other. The first home that I bought came with a warranty from American Home Shield that covered the component in the house like the plumbing, electrical, HVAC and much more. At our current home we’ve used Merry Maids and Terminix ensures that termites don’t think of the wood in our house as a snack. ServiceMaster is the parent company of these, as well as, AmeriSpec, Furniture Medic, SericeMaster Clean, ServiceMaster Restore and are having a contest for $2,000 in GE appliances each week through July 6 and a Grand Prize Drawing for $5,0000 in Home Depot gift cards.

ServiceMaster, GE appliances, home depot, merry maids, plumbing, DIY

Either of those prizes would go a long way toward either improving or renovating your home. When it comes to home repairs and renovations it’s important to know your limitations. According to a study done by ServiceMaster they discovered that 58% were unprepared to address any issues, 54% weren’t knowledgeable on how to fix it and 83% said that they wanted one resource that could fix everything.

Personally, I know not to even attempt electrical or plumbing.  I learned that through trial and error, mainly error. It’s always been safe, but the results did not have the professional appearance that you want.  Do you have a DIY project that didn’t turn out the way that you wanted it to? Do you have a project at the house that needs to be done?

Either way just take a photo of it and share it to ServiceMaster’s Facebook page. Be sure  to tag it #FixMyHouseSweeps and you are entered.

I’m dreaming of an LG Studio Kitchen at Best Buy, come see why

The reviewer has been compensated in the form of a Best Buy Gift Card and/or received the product/service at a reduced price or for free. It’s probably a coincidence, but we’re new kitchen shopping. Our house was built in the mid 80’s and the appliances were new to it in the mid 90’s. If I touch our dishwasher for long enough I can channel Faith by George Michael. Then I start wondering about Andrew Ridgeley, I’ll text my wife about the funny scene from Music and Lyrics (the whole movie basically) and bam, dinner is over cooked and the dishwasher needs to be cycled. It’s a scene from the island of lost kitchens, which is right next to the island of lost toys, and is quite relevant this time of year. We got to experience a new LG kitchen from Best Buy and I think our current kitchen was trying to tell me something because my dishwasher just told me that WHAM! broke up.
