The Fisher-Price Octonauts Octopod Playset provides hours of free play fun

Prior to receiving the Octonauts Octopod Playset to review we hadn’t seen the show.  I was aware of it, but hadn’t seen an episode of it.  Since our oldest has been playing with the Octonauts Octopod Playset he’s been sounding the Octo Alert, rescuing various sea critters and wondering why this show isn’t available on Roku.   Parents who are down with the Octonauts know what I’m speaking about the others will discover it when their child is about 3 or 4.

The Octonauts Octopod playset 2

The Octonauts Octopod Playset includes Barnacles and Kwazii from the show, in addition to the chair/vehicle that they can sit in.  The figures have surprisingly good limb movement for being so small.  All of their arms and legs move and bend so that they can climb, walk or rescue rogue animals.

In the Octopod there are four stations where children can play, each once complete with its own rescue rope.  One of the ropes is a bucket, an anchor and so forth that are attached to the Octopod.  The kids put Octonauts on the rope, pull them into the Octopod and in some cases send them back down the chute.   Our youngest son who is 2, loves putting the little creatures in the tree trunk and squeals with delight when they come out the other side.

Frankly I was surprised at how much our children enjoy this toy.   They’ve never watched the cartoon, but immediately loved the toy, especially the red Octo Alert button and putting Barnacles or Kwazii in the captain’s chair.   Our kids have a couple different Imaginext play sets so my expectations for durability and interest level are high when it comes to free play activity sets like this.

The Octonauts Octopod playset

The Octonauts Octopod Playset has been knocked off the table dozens of times and shows no signs of wear.   It retails for $34.99, which is right in line with sets like it. There are additional Octonauts characters that you can purchase to play with all of the characters in the show.

This is a very good value and if your child knows or is into The Octonauts will immediately like it.  What’s great for parents is that it occupies the children for long periods of time each session.  When the kids get bored we just give them different animals or action figures to rescue and it’s a whole new adventure.

We were provided with a copy of the playset for review purposes.  All thoughts are our own.

  1. I bought this for my guy yesterday. He has been wanting it so bad. Hope he has fun with it and it does not sit in the toy box. Thanks for the review.
