Star Wars Command: small figures, big detail, great fun

When I was a kid I played with little green Army men.  I also grew up when Star Wars was released.  The toys in 2014 have finally combined two of my favorite things as a child in Star Wars Command Millennium Falcon.  It has 33 vehicles and figures including three AT-ATs, Snowtroopers, Snowspeeders, Rebel Soldiers and more.

You can #CommandTheForce with Star Wars

The detail on these figures is awesome.  Consider that they are the same size as the Army men I played with as a child and the detail is this precise.  This is a great way to really let the mind loose and play Star Wars for real.  OK, play for real on a model scale, but this is a fun toy for kids of all ages.

Having said that, as much as I like to look at them, this toy is for the kids.  One cool angle about the vehicles in Star Wars Command Force is that they move.  Simply push the Millennium Falcon back and then push the button on top.  It will go slowly for a foot or two and the blast off like it’s going into hyperspace.  Even a scale model Han Solo can’t get the ship to jump to hyperspace at a moment’s notice can he?

Command the Force

The AT-ATs and Snowspeeders move on their own too.  They come with a platform that they hook on to, put that platform onto the Rev Up Strikers, pull back and release.  They won’t go as fast as the Millennium Falcon, but then again they’re not being driven by a wookie.

Where kids can really have fun is putting the soldiers up in various alignments like they’re in battle, hiding or engaged in a massive fight on the Ice Planet of Hoth.  Wind the Millennium Falcon back, aim it at the troops and punch it Chewie.  Call it bowling for Stormtroopers or a victory by the alliance, either way this is great fun.

Older kids will probably make parachutes for various Stormtrooper or rebel soldiers.  You’ll find soldiers at the dinner table hiding behind the salt or possibly holding other toys at bay in their sibling’s room.

There are a couple different Star Wars Command Force Sets.  Death Star Strike, Epic Assault and Star Destroyer are some of the other bigger sets in the line-up.  Each set references the period of Star Wars that it’s from.  For example the Millennium Falcon is from Episode 5, The Empire Strikes Back.  You however, already knew that because of the AT-AT and the Ice Planet Hoth reference didn’t you?

The toy is appropriate for ages 4 and up and kids will love it.  The detail in the vehicles and action figures will certainly interest parents and make those that are interested want to play too.   The sets vary in price starting at $6 for a 12 piece set and going up.
