What’s cooking with the Little Tikes Sizzle and Serve Grill

Hey, we received product for review purposes. All thoughts are our own. I like to grill. For us it’s a year round activity made more fun in the winter months because it’s cold and the grill keeps us warm. We also don’t use lighter fluid. We have the kids go out and collect small twigs, and dead leaves, surround the area with charcoal and start the fire. That was born from an emergency many years ago, but we’ve kept it up and now use it as a way for the kids to earn money.  Because of our bare bones grilling style the kids spend time with me when I grill and they got to cook with the Little Tikes Sizzle and Serve Grill.

When I’m at the grill I might as well has a ‘Don’t touch the grill’ apron on. Kids want to touch the grill, but they really shouldn’t because A. It’s hot. B. They might mess up the food or C. It might have sharp edges. Any of those reasons are why I’m on defcon alert Alpha when the kids are with me outside.

Things are all good when they’re cooking on the Little Tikes Sizzle and Serve Grill.  It has two wheels on the back so small people who can actively help are able to carry it to and from various places. The grill comes with pretend hot dogs, buns, burgers, condiments and grill tools.

Our children have a plethora of food from previous cooking adventures. Our oldest had a Little Tikes grill when he turned two and that grill still sees action today. Because of these two things our two chefs put ice cream, peppers, lettuce or just about anything they see fit on their grill.

Putting the Little Tikes grill together was simple, but did require one extra step to allow the top to open and close as fluidly as you’d like.  The rim of the orange top goes between the top of the grill and its base. If you don’t securely fit it in that area the lid will pop out of the grill each time you try to open it.

Pro tip: get some channel lock pliers and squeeze the edge where the orange lid goes between the base and the top. We did that and our top goes up and down with ease now.

The Little Tikes Sizzle and Serve Grill is realistic play that kids will dig regardless of your grilling skills. It’s great to have them play cook beside you while the real grilling is going on. As with every experience we’ve had with the brand it’s very high quality and will last for years. The product’s price varies from store to store; on average it’ll cost $30.
