The Lunch Witch, graphic novel girl power with a witch twist

The lunch lady is one of the most mysterious people at a child’s school.  Lunch lady Dora comes to mind from The Simpsons.  I don’t specifically remember our lunch lady, but I suspect she was the third most feared person at the school, followed by the garbage man and the principal.  The Lunch Witch takes the child’s perspective of Grunhilda, an elementary school lunch lady and imagines her as a real witch as she tries to help Madison.

Shinobi: Ninja Warrior Princess #6 delivers the action and more

I had a 9 year old reviewer that does some work for us look at Shinobi: Ninja Warrior Princess #1 when it first came out in the late summer.  She was underwhelmed, said that it needed more action and then mumbled something about not liking ninjas.  Our reviewer needs to take a look at the final issue in this limited series because it’s loaded with action, has lots of female heroes, a monster or two and some ninjas.  She’ll just have to deal with the ninjas.

Penguins of Madagascar #3, a solid all age comic with grins and laughs

Penguins of Madagascar #3 is what I wanted the mini-series to be.  Unlike the second issue which seemed to open up an ongoing story, the third issue is simply pure, happy penguin, Afro Circus fun that puts everything in a bow at the end of the issue.
