Planet Gigantic #4 awesome, noir, space, monster all age comic

We’re big fans of Planet Gigantic here.  It’s an all age comic book that delivers on anything that you want or think that the genre isn’t putting out there.   Fabulous art, great story, girl heroes, boy heroes and lots of action are things that this limited series has going for it.

New all age comic books for Wednesday, February 4, 2015

Many of the all age comic staples are out this week.  There are some new issues from Garfield, Archie and Simpsons hitting comic book stores.  Also keep an eye out for Transformers More Than Meets The Eye, while a true ‘all age comic’ it’s on par with the level of action and violence that I was reading at 7 or 8 years old.

Other favorites that you might be into are Batman ’66, just like the campy television show, but with slightly more modern jokes and Looney Tunes 223.  The final issue of Planet Galactic and the semi-underground classic Darkwing Duck comes out with a trade paperback.   Oh, keep an eye out for the artistic changes happening in Riverdale, Archie and his friends are getting a more modern appearance in the near future.

SpongeBob Comics is the all ages bridge to life under the sea

SpongeBob Comics is a great all ages comic for a couple of reasons.  In this case take all ages with a grain of salt and compare it to the cartoon.  We have a three year old, he’s too young for the comic and the television show.  Our five year old has seen the show a couple times with his cousins, but it’s not something that we’d seek out for him to watch by himself.  But because he likes the character, SpongeBob, this comic book is a great meeting point for him.

Terrible Lizard #3, Wrex in effect, in the city-with friends

Terrible Lizard is a 4 issue mini-series from Oni Press about a teenage girl Jessica Anders and her adopted T.  Rex.  Because of an accident in the laboratory, Jessica and Wrex have a bond that makes them understand each other very well.  When #2 ended we saw the military closing in on Wrex just after his battle with a giant ape.  This is an all ages comic that doesn’t skimp on the action and succeeds on another level too.

Star Wars #1  This is the new Star Wars comic.  Marvel just regained the rights to the comic side of things.  It’s technically not all ages, but I can’t imagine Star Wars material being too old.

Star Wars Marvel Yrs Omnibus HC Vol. 01  This is the old school, from 1977 Star Wars comic book that Marvel published.  If we let our children read our old copies from back in the day, then it would be all age comic fun.

Scooby-Doo! Team-Up #8, goofy redemption for the meddling kids

Scooby-Doo! Team Up is exactly what I was expecting from a Scooy-Doo comic book.  This is one story, completely stilly, great for all ages and also introduces (?) a new generation to The Jetsons.  By the title, Scooby-Doo Team-Up you know that they meet other superheroes or animated characters.  In this issue they meet the futuristic family, introduce them to ghosts and figure out a way home.
