I Am So Brave! is helpful in teaching children that some situations they may find scary can be overcome. Initially I thought the book was too simplistic for even our two and a half year old. Because of that the book stayed in my office for two weeks. It wasn’t until a big thunderstorm came to the house that I realized just how helpful I Am So Brave! could be in action.

As I mentioned, we love Baby Eisnstein. We had an earlier version of the Baby Neptune Ocean Orchestra when our oldest was just a baby. While the toy was fun and played some nice classical music, it wasn’t anything remarkable. “How much could they really improve a device?”, I thought before I opened this up. This toy is cool, the sound is crisp and the lights are vivid.

We love us some Baby Einstein in this house. When our oldest was first born we stocked up on anything Baby Einstein that we could find at a certain price point. Some of it came from garage sales and some new from the stores, depending on what it was. The Ocean Exploration Play Pad from Baby Einstein combines elements of previous activities for babies. It’s a great interactive learning tool that’s missing one key thing-a volume switch.

Children love dinosaurs. Children love construction vehicles. A dinosaur construction vehicle is such a natural fit one wonders why a durable one for small hands isn’t in every sand box. Sure The Transformers have vehicles, but they’re more imagination play and not dig in the dirt, move sticks stuff for small children. I was priming my wife with all manner of questions about how to describe it. Some of her friends said coo, while other said have fun. Regardless, I knew that she was going with me to be with the boys, which was fine with me. Our child’s first comic con happened when they were 4 and 2, so I knew that they wouldn’t remember much, but I certainly wanted them to have fun. Here are some tips that we learned during our child’s first comic con.

The children in our neighborhood like us. I sent out the call that I needed guests to play Skylanders SWAP Force. The parents must have thought I was trying to open up my own daddy day camp, but I assured them that I just wanted the kids to come over and play Skylanders. Win/win, the kids go someplace so the adults can relax and the kids get to have fun.

Two things: it’s good to have fun and it’s good to save money. Skylanders is also good. Skylanders SWAP Force is also good fun. One of the great things about Skylanders is that every kid who plays the game immediately has a favorite and it’s difficult enough to be competitive, but not impossible. Prior to being a parent it was easy for me to judge. Sheesh those kids are loud-Why is that person bringing a stroller in here-really, a child at a beer festival? Now that I’m a parent the only one of those situations that makes sense is the beer festival one, really people, get a sitter. One of the more popular stereotypes that I finally bought into is cutting the crust off of our son’s sandwich.
