Whistlefritz French For Kids, On Va jouer DVD review & giveaway

Wait, you said that you were listening to Spanish with your kids, what’s up? We are indeed listening to the Spanish program that Whistlefritz has, but I also want our children to know bits of French. Once you get past the pronunciation the two languages have lots in common and the best way to learn a language when you’re a child is through exposure, immersion and repetition. Whistlefritz , On Va Jouer (Let’s Play) has many of the songs that are on Allons Danser, the French for kids music CD.

Countablock, the best children’s counting book that we’ve seen

In November 2013 we reviewed Alphablock from these same authors and our headline was almost the same. Countablock follows the same presentation that Alphablock did so well, except this time with numbers from 1 to 100. It’s written by Christopher Franceschelli with the art by Peskimo. Countablock is intended for ages 1-3, but our almost 5 year old loves it and don’t get tired of reading it to them either.

Montessori: Map Work immediately grabs (and holds) kid’s attention

Our oldest child who is four and a half loves animals. It wasn’t too much of a surprise when he immediately grabbed Montessori: Map Work and put it in his bedroom to where I couldn’t find it for a couple weeks. Having found the book again I can now review it just in time for its release.

Because ads or lack thereof, matter. Bing in the Classroom

One time our oldest was watching videos online when I heard incredibly bad language coming from the computer. An ad had led him to a video that they thought was similar to what he was looking for. In reality it was a profane laced cartoon that satirized programming that was meant for children. Even before that happened I used Bing at home search for things. A Bucket of Blessings- a new classic children’s book for all

There is a lot to love about A Bucket of Blessings, written by Kabir & Surishtah Sehgal. The story is simple, relatable to children, teaches them lessons and has big words & pictures for children. A Bucketful of Blessings is based on a little-known Indian myth that demonstrates the power of sharing, hope and blessings.

Whistlefritz: a total immersion language program that kids will enjoy-Giveaway!

Prior to being a dad I taught ESL for two years. I’m a big proponent for children learning a second language ASAP. I also know that the best way to learn is total immersion. The problem with children learning a second language is that they start too late and it isn’t total immersion in some educational instances. Whistlefritz is a learning language program for children. Their Spanish program has been out for a while and we got the chance to review some of their newly released French program.

Free Beneficial Garden Bug Class this weekend at Pike Nursery

We love our garden, even though we don’t know everything about it and often lose more than half of our tomatoes, we love it. There are also blueberries, raspberries and a couple other edibles in there, but their loss is usually greater than 50%. Bugs can help me with this and this weekend Pike Nurseries is having a free class to educate folks about the good bugs that can help our gardens.

Snuggle The Baby: interactive toddler laughs and education

The cover for Snuggle The Baby confused me at first. Without reading the press release I dived right in and looked it over. I don’t get it, I thought after going through it once. I then went to the front and back cover and clearly understood what the book was trying to accomplish. “An interactive book!” it says on the front and “includes gentle instructions…..for practice and play” on the back. Boom, now I get it, you do too don’t you?
