Kindred Howard is a friend of mine. When he sent me his book, Cavemen in Babyland, he told me that guys don’t normally read parenting books and that it was kind of aimed at women. Granted, he was probably just taking that information from marketing companies or perhaps his publisher. Continue reading Cavemen in Babyland is a fine primer for dads and moms-to-be

Children of all ages need tickets to London Olympics, parents outraged
Some of the headlines for the story in the press read “Breastfeeding moms furious…..”, but the decision affects all parents. If you’ll be going to the London Olympics then you’ll need to purchase a ticket regardless of how old, or young your child is.
If you go to Walt Disney World or take a flight, then the rule is that if they’re 2 or under, they’re free and sitting in your lap. That’s a great rule. Continue reading Children of all ages need tickets to London Olympics, parents outraged
Parenting fail: Georgia mom lets 10 year old son get tattoo
Ode to live in Georgia where there’s always an interesting parenting story going on. The latest is a Chuntera Napier, the mother to a 10 year old who allowed him to get a tattoo that had his deceased brother’s jersey number. This time of year also brings out lots more of these people, some of whom didn’t get the memo that they should be happier and more pleasant. Overweight children according to Chunk from The Goonies
We love The Goonies in our house. It’s one of those movies that can stop me and my wife from whatever we’re doing to sit down and watch. In The Goonies Chunk was played by Jeff Cohen, who at the time was a very chubby, excitable tween.
If Chunk were transplanted from the late 80’s to today, he could be labeled obese. Granted, Chunk is a fictional character, but the actor portraying him could either be taken away by the state, given a video guilt trip or have doctors that are scared of what parents think. Continue reading Overweight children according to Chunk from The Goonies
