Someone Farted, no really, someone farted and it’ll make kids laugh

Someone Farted. Someone Farted by Bruce Eric Kaplan is the book that might divide you as a parent.  You want your child to read, but a part of you wants them to read books about feelings or solving elementary school problems. If the later term describes you then Someone Farted is in no way the book that you’re looking for. With any luck Gandhi Plays, the story about a 6-year old Mahatma Gandhi on the playground at an elementary school will be published next month for you.

For those other parents, or those children who just want to read, laugh and have something that relates to their family, Someone Farted is for you. You’ll never guess what Someone Farted is about-or maybe the title is too obvious and that’s the reason this book interests you.

The Krupke family is like any family, they’re in the car on a typical Saturday to get groceries when somebody farts. Sally notices it first. Her brother, Vinnie quickly denies that it was him. Mom and dad look at each other and confirm that it wasn’t either of them. They all roll the windows down, but the green stench is still spreading through the car. Whoever did it is still farting.

By now the toxicity of the smell is adversely affecting the driver. He almost hits someone, then has to explain things to the police and things get even worse than that-all because someone farted.

Someone Farted is absurd humor that kids, OK, mainly boys who are 4 and up will laugh out loud at. Technically the book’s age range, per the PR sheet is 4-8, but I would say 4 and up because I laughed at it, so did my wife. For record my wife will sternly deny laughing at the book, because potty humor, especially forthright potty humor, something, something. The book is funny, don’t try to hide from it or deny its humor because like a malicious child who tries to fart and then run, it will find you.
