New all age comics for Wednesday, December 9, 2015

Happy new comic book day! It happens every Wednesday at your local comic book store when they receive the new ones. While the new books that are OK for young readers varies from week to week, there are at least a dozen and a half every week. This week in all age comics brings a couple great graphic novels, the start of a potentially cool mini-series for readers 10 and up, Guardians, Mickey and TMNT.

If your child is into fantasy then they’ll want to check out Wakfu, #2 of an 8 issue mini-series comes out this week. It’s based on the popular video and card games that is already really popular with kids 9 and up.  Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Amazing Adventures and Marvel Universe Guardians of the Galaxy, two titles for the action comic set are great too.

A new mini series that has Batman meeting the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in Gotham City starts. This look great for kids 10 and up because it’s got the real feeling that some of the Batman books have.

New all age comics for December 2, 2015

December is here and I thought that the all age comics would slow down. Alas, it’s one of the busiest weeks in a while with lots of new graphic novels, one mini-series coming to an end, a classic title coming back and a brand new one with superb lineage.

Spidey is back! The classic series from the 70’s is back at Marvel. This time Spidey is a teen, a true teen in high school trying to manage girls, peer pressure and the side effects from a radioactive spider bite. There are two trade paperbacks featuring Batman ’66, one for Ghostbusters Get Real, My Little Pony Friends Forever, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Unbeatable Squirrel Girl.

Simpsons Illustrated #20 and Regular Show #30 come out this week. If you’re looking for a go-to basics in TV to comic book medium you should dig into either of those.

New all age comics for December 2, 2015, Spidey, Batman 66, Jim Henson's Storyteller Dragons, Skylanders

#1 of Jim Henson’s Storyteller Dragons comes out this week too. The previous Storyteller mini-series told short stories about witches from all over the world. The art in that series was fabulous and it told a story that could be enjoyed by upper middle schoolers and above. This latest series focuses on various dragon stories. Just look at the cover to fall in love and find your new favorite comic.

The music in the podcast is Jahzzar, it’s instrumental rock, but he plays all manner of world stuff too. You can dig into all of his stuff at Free Music Archive.  The links will take you to TFAW where you’ll save up to 20% on anything through the links.

The New All Age Comic Books for Wednesday, November 25, 2015

This is a really neat week for all age comic books. There are lots of books coming out, many new titles and something for everyone. There’s a new Peanuts book, Peanuts Snoopy Special #1 is all Snoopy in all new adventures. Sesame Street, Chakra The Invincible, Wilds End Enemy Within #3, Bart Simpson #99 and lots of other titles that are ‘regulars’ come out.

A brand new series is Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur from Marvel. It sounds a lot like Terrible Lizard, which we loved, but are skeptical as to how much it looks like it. Regardless, we’ll give it a look over because, dinosaurs.

There are also oodles of new Star Wars accessories. Your R2 kitchen storage set is no longer a dream, you can boil your egg in the shape of C-3PO and lots of other ways to make the holidays more fun.

Re: the links. They’ll take you to TFAW where you’ll save up to 20% on your orders. They’re also having an online only Black Friday sale. Spend over $45 and you’ll see big savings happen. Now go have the internet hamsters work overtime.

New All Age Comic Books for Wednesday, November 18, 2015

The week before Thanksgiving and there are no turkeys on this list. Memo to self: that is the last Thanksgiving pun. What this week in new all age comic books lack it makes up for in quality. There are titles for every age and gender,  a couple of our favorite comics and one comic that will blow you away if you’re looking for something fresh.

Lumberjanes #20, Futurama #77, Marvel Universe Avengers Assemble Season Two #13 and My Little Pony, Friendship is Magic #36 all come out this week. Any of those titles are can’t miss ones that your child will love.

Sonic The Hedgehog #278 is going on hiatus after this issue, not cancelled, just taking a break. Batman ’66 #29 is officially cancelled though and this is the next to last issue.

Usagi Yojimbo is the black and white gem of a comic that you need to be reading if you like ninja rabbits in feudal Japan. The art is awesome and the story is to the point, yet manages to tell lots. There are also two new Star Wars publications out this week. I suspect that we’ll be repeating that last sentence a couple times during the next month. One would almost say, we’ll be full of them.

The links will take you to TFAW, where you’ll save 20% on your comic purchases. The music on the podcast is from Cousin Silas/Black Hill, some wondrous minimal stuff that I found over at Free Music Archive.

New All Age Comic Books for Wednesday, November 11, 2015

What’s new this week? Well, we saw James Bond, but didn’t catch Peanuts yet, that’ll happen this weekend. In new all age comic books it’s an interesting week with two cat titles, two Scooby Doo titles, two Star Wars titles and lots of classics mixed in.

Teen Titans #13, Superman Adventures trade paperback Vol. 01, SpongeBob Comics #50 and Adventure Time #46 are just some of the classics that complete the list this week.

One of the most popular middle school book series on the planet released their 10th installment last week too. Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Old School is very funny and has Greg getting into all manner of trouble, culminating in him going to a summer camp, where his trouble get worse and are solved by an unlikely source.

It’s also just over a month before the new Star Wars film comes out, so expect a slew of cool comics, reissues, products, waffle makers and chopsticks with the Force in full effect, but we’re not complaining.

New all age comic books for Wednesday, November 4, 2015

And suddenly, it’s November. The new all age comic books might have fewer ghosts this week, but there are still lots of new titles to keep readers of all ages interested. One of the books that we’re looking forward to this week is actually, a book. Alien Next Door is a humor book that shows Alien on Earth adapting to life, cleaning house, taking care of Jonesy and other mundane things. There’s nothing graphic about this book, but its humor might be too dry for kids to fully understand.

Back to the Future #2 (of 4), Bat Mite #6 (of 6), Hero Cats #8, Marvel Universe Guardians of the Galaxy #2, Mouse Guard: Legends of the Guard Volume 3, Regular Show #29, a couple Walt Disney Characters, Grandpa Simpson and much more come out this week.

New All Age Comic Books for Wednesday, October 28, 2015

Not that each week has a theme to the new all age comic books, but if they did then this week’s would be fierce independence. That also sounds like a lame sequel to ID4, but it’s not, in this case. There’s a good sampling of all age books out this week form a large variety of publishers. The two major houses still aren’t doing much with all ages so that leaves it up to BOOM! Studios, Bongo Comics, Archie Comics and IDW. Also this week Redan, Dey Street Books, Abstract Studios and Ape Entertainment have new releases out.

Adventure Time 2015 Spooktacular, one of the final issues of Batman ’66, Sesame Street, Skylanders Superchargers #1, TMNT #51, Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #1 and a brand new Skylanders series are just some of the new comics this week.
