Photo recap from the Dragon Con parade

The 2015 Dragon Con parade did not disappoint. There were even more spectators, the route was 1/10 of a mile longer and the cosplayers did a fabulous job. I saw many more Back to the Future people, lots of great Mad Max inspired costumes and vehicles, a massive superhero contingent and all sorts of aliens. It was a bonus that the weather in Atlanta was cooler than expected which led to happier audience member and much happier cosplayers in potentially heavy costumes.

I went to several sessions, walked around to all of the hotels and was in awe of the massive swarm of people. Even after the parade I saw lots of youth who were with their parents, going to sessions and having a great time.  These are the stand out photos that we took from the Dragon Con parade 2015.

Denny’s teams up with No Kid Hungry to help hungry kids

Hey, we’re an ambassador for Denny’s. All thoughts are our own. On average one in five children are hungry and don’t receive the adequate amount needed. For years Denny’s has been raising funds for No Kid Hungry since their inception and are consistently one of their largest donors-with your help. That one in five figure varies from state to state, but take it as a county and 16 million kids in the United States are in that boat. Every year Denny’s makes it easy for you to support No Kid Hungry and has donated 2.3 million dollars so far, which provided 23 million meals to kids across the country.

What to expect from Dragon Con in Atlanta

Dragon Con is the largest pop culture convention in the U.S. that focuses on sci-fi, fantasy, gaming, comics, music, art and film. That’s quite the boiler plate copy, but it’s true. Dragon Con is more than a place to catch presentations from the cast of Arrow. There are literally hundreds of break- out sessions that are geared to exactly what interests you in the pop culture world.  And the cosplay-wow, it’s not required that you come in costume, but thousands of people wear them and they’re really something to marvel. The parade on Saturday morning is one of the highlights of the weekend.

Enter National Park Service free on 8/25 #FindYourPark

We’re big fans of getting outside. The kids like to hike, but still complain on the uphill parts and try to go too quickly when they go down. One thing about getting outside is that it is a parenting win. Everyone gets exercise, they burn off some sillies and mom/dad can get refreshed. To celebrate the 99th birthday of the National Park Service they’re waiving all entry fees into their parks on 8/25/15.

You can use it however you would like-and if you haven’t shopped there it will go a long way. We go there every week and spend around $30. It’s a # LEGO Ninjago Weekend, Aug 15-16 at Legoland Discovery Center Atlanta

If you have children between the ages of 3-10 Legoland Discovery Center Atlanta is one of the must-visit places in Atlanta. We were skeptical of our younger children going there, but there is a large DUPLO area, an even bigger block pit and a big area play structure where they can climb, run and get their silly’s out.  Every time we go there we easily spend three hours with the kids wanting to stay longer and them sleeping very well that night. On Augusts 15 and 16 Legoland is having an event highlighting Ninjago Airjitzu Flyers.

Good memories of a friend of mine #Wishes4Riley

It’s a strange thing when a friend dies. It makes you re-evaluate your life, the way you act and in our case makes us appreciate things. You may have seen Stephanie’s picture floating around social media or on the news about her death. She was an Atlanta mom who went swimming, had symptoms of a summer flu the next day, but that escalated to a loss of all muscle control and then a short three weeks later death.
