Fraggle Rock celebrates 30 years of rocking the felt cloth on DVD

Everyone in this house is a huge Jim Henson fan.  I say Jim Henson fan instead of Muppet fan because his fingerprints are on all of his creations.  You can tell it in Sesame Street, The Muppets, The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth.  It’s Jim Henson’s creativity that is geared to certain audiences. The moment when a child knows what you’re thinking

Children are a fabulous, compact, confusing version of us.  What they see and do may not immediately be proof of them being from you.  Stop for a moment, twist what they’re saying, pronounce it like Urkel from Family Matters would and you just might understand what they’re trying to tell you. Continue reading The moment when a child knows what you’re thinking

How many questions does a toddler ask in one day?

Why are stay at home parents so exhausted at the end of the day?   I read a sarcastic article that said that parents are tired because of all the questions they answer during a given day.  I put forth  the question of how many questions does a toddler  ask by marking down each time our 3.5 year old asked me a question.  Just for the sake of making it fun I also wrote down the questions, hilarity ensues.   Continue reading How many questions does a toddler ask in one day?

Test driving the new BMW Maclaren Buggy

An umbrella stroller is so called that because it can fold up neatly and be put away in your car without much fuss.   Perhaps yours is difficult to fold, frustrating to push or seemingly has a mind on its own with a desire to pinch your fingers.  With that as my baseline experience with those types of strollers I am reviewing the new BMW Maclaren Buggy. Little Pim review: an entertaining way to teach language

I speak enough of a couple languages to be a good tourist.  None of them are fluent, but I could order food, understand the numbers and get basic directions.  That leaves me with the question of how do you teach your child another language when you, yourself can barely speak a second one?    Little Pim has a series of DVDs, audio CDs, books and apps that make things learning another language possible for children. What to expect from your 18 month old toddler

Babies start to become fun when they turn 5 months.  Granted they are always fun, but sometimes the work to fun ratio is weighted heavily (exclusively) in work.  By now your little toddler is probably walking to some extent.  What else can you expect from your 18 month old toddler? Continue reading What to expect from your 18 month old toddler

A review tail of 2 bunny books: Billy Bunny and Counting Bunnies

With Easter just around the corner we were given the opportunity to take a look at two books about bunnies.  Easter bunnies that is, all hopping happy and here to make small children smile with delight.  More Mojo is 1.5 YO and 3YO Mojo both love books so we gave it a go.  The results were mixed, but neither one left us with a lump of charcoal in our Easter egg. Extreme Mammals is a great addition to Fernbank for children

We do love going to the Fernbank Museum of Natural History.  Having such a large and well planned out museum of natural history is a benefit to living in a big city. However, truth be told, we don’t get there more than a couple of times a year.  Extreme Mammals just opened at Fernbank and is a great reason to discover-or be reminded of what a great museum it is.
