Our 3.5 year old is just learning how to count past 20. He immediately liked David Carter’s 100 when he saw the book because of the crisp, bright illustrations. I didn’t realize how good the book was though until our 8 year old niece came over and started to look through the book. Continue reading David Carter’s 100-a fun, rabbit hole way to learn counting

Daddy Mojo used to teach. Being an ex educator he’s interested in many things about education, such as teaching policies, best practices and bureaucracy.
Operation Storm is vivid, approachable history at its best
The Hunt for Red October is based on a true story. What if there was an even bigger story out there involving submarines; that is 100% true and would’ve altered the course of the world had things not happened? Imagine a super submarine, capable of carrying aircraft and that is a game changer. That is exactly what the Japanese built and had deployed just before WWII ended. Little Pim foreign language DVD giveaway
Recently we had the chance to review the Little Pim Spanish play DVD. It’s teaches children words in Spanish that revolve around play and our children love it. 3YO Mojo calls it the ‘Panda movie’ and yells to see it. The fact that it’s educational is gravy and makes me feel like superdad with my child yelling at me to learn. Continue reading Little Pim foreign language DVD giveaway
Go Joe, ways to honor the military
This week is a busy one. In addition to the work that must be done, I’ve got a couple of meetings and movies that I’m going to. The movie that I’m most jazzed about seeing is definitely G.I. Joe: Retaliation. Obviously, that’s a fictional movie that is geared towards entertaining people. However, there are countless ways for you to help our heroes at home and abroad. Continue reading Go Joe, ways to honor the military
Little Pim review: an entertaining way to teach language
I speak enough of a couple languages to be a good tourist. None of them are fluent, but I could order food, understand the numbers and get basic directions. That leaves me with the question of how do you teach your child another language when you, yourself can barely speak a second one? Little Pim has a series of DVDs, audio CDs, books and apps that make things learning another language possible for children. Continue reading Little Pim review: an entertaining way to teach language
All Through My Town is the go-to children’s book in the house now
I love to read. 3YO Mojo likes to read too. In a perfect world I’d have enough time to have a site devoted exclusively to comic and children’s books. I state that to preface the fact that our son likes books but is picky and certainly has his favorite books. Having said that; All Through My Town by Jean Reidy has been his go-to book ever since he picked it up. Continue reading All Through My Town is the go-to children’s book in the house now
Superman and the Poisoned Planet is a book kids will dig
When I was 7 I started reading Spidey, it was a version of Spider Man that was produced by The Electric Company. The stories were Spider Man lite, the language & art was cartoonish and the entire comic was focused on young readers. While the art may take some of the spotlight, with comic books and heroes it all comes down the reading aspects to make a good book really click. Continue reading Superman and the Poisoned Planet is a book kids will dig
Archie by Domenica More Gordon is a wordless book to howl over
Archie is a wordless book that tells the story of an owner, Archie, who starts making clothing for his dog. Archie is also a dog, but he’s a human figure with a dog head. So, Archie’s dog starts wearing this clothing and it’s a big hit! Soon enough the owners who had been ordering clothing for their dogs want Archie to make them clothing too.
