Checklist with a Tired Parent: Why is my Crawler Crying?

More Mojo was upset.  At 11 months old he was crying, yelling and becoming the red faced, high pitched noise machine that makes people who don’t already have children take an oath of celibacy. When your crawler is in the thick of a tantrum it’s tempting to get frustrated.  When that happened to us we did get frustrated, but also ran through our toddler Q & A checklist. Cypher Kids Club is a 3D interactive app that kids will really enjoy

We’ve been teaching 3YO Mojo his ABCs since he was nine months old using karuata.  Karuata is done by having whatever you’re trying to learn on cardboard flashcards, repeating them and then having your student slap the card when you say the object.  Cypher Kids Club takes karuta and blends it into a 3D app for your Apple devices to make learning fun for kids. Lil Helper is a simple, helpful device that crawlers need to have

Little crawlers love the play the drop something game.  They drop it, you pick it up and the game repeats over and over.  Sometimes the game is cute.  When they play the game at the dinner table with their cup of milk it’s never cute.  Continue reading Lil Helper is a simple, helpful device that crawlers need to have

The potty training tip that has our 3 year old leaving diaper town

For the record we’re still potty training 3YO Mojo.  His potty training started when he was 2 and a half, taking interest in the potty and having so-so results, including dad sleeping on the toilet. 3 months prior to his third birthday he started going  #1 with regularity, but the elusive #2 was still not here.  It was then that we had good idea that morphed into a great idea. When should your kids meet Star Wars?

For record, I presume that all children at some point in time will be introduced to Star Wars.  Since I was a kid the Star Wars universe has grown a bit.  It’s much more than movies, now it’s toys, books (comics!), an eventual theme park and of course the movies.  We’re glad that Disney purchased them because it will give the brand a fresh start-and Disney does things on a first class scale.  Continue reading When should your kids meet Star Wars?

Don’t judge a beef jerky eating, Harley rider by his cover

I’ve always wanted a pipe wrench.   The name sounds tough, combining two rugged words that make one super jagged word that actually serves a purpose and is made of steel?  That is bordering on testosterone overload.   I have a pair of Channel Lock pliers.  They do roughly the same thing as a pipe wrench.  But if a pipe wrench is Chuck Norris, a pair of Channel Lock pliers is John Stamos. #1 and #3 of 18 Summers: Curiosity and finding our legs

In May I went to Disney Social Media Moms.  It’s a social media conference at Walt Disney World that helps bloggers think, be creative, have fun and meet other family bloggers.    Authors, social media folks and a couple of Walt Disney employees all spoke to us on a variety of things.   One of the speakers, Amy Foster from Disney Park Insight mentioned “18 summers”Continue reading #1 and #3 of 18 Summers: Curiosity and finding our legs

Crafty Dad: Make a city out of cardboard boxes

For toddlers or small children you need affordable activities that won’t break the bank.  We recently had to occupy a dozen or so children who were 5 and under.  My wife found the most creative and relatively simple craft on Pinterest, making a city out of cardboard boxes. Continue reading Crafty Dad: Make a city out of cardboard boxes
