New all age comic books for Wednesday, September 23, 2015 #NCBD

Happy new comic book day! Brace yourself for a brand new Snoopy graphic novel-Where Beagles Dare is a full length story, akin to the classic ones that they turned into half hour television specials. The conclusion of Princeless Be Yourself, Over the Garden Wall #2 is great fantasy, Sonic Universe #80 and more come out this week.

A new mini-series in line with Wild’s End comes out too. Wild’s End Enemy Within #1 (of 4) is a unique melding of WWII and wild farm critters like toads, mice and such. The art that we’ve seen is really amazing and we’ll be giving this book a review later this week.

The links will take you to TFAW, where you’ll save at least 10% on your order. If you’re looking for the closest shop to you then check out Comic Shop Locator. We look at the new all age comic books every week, if there’s a specific book you’re curious about just ask us! We’re also starting a podcast on this and other topics, just search Daddy Mojo, all age comic books or parenting in the podcast search on iTunes.

Doing what I can to #EndMommyWars from a dad’s perspective

We were compensated for this post, all thoughts are our own. Hey, I’m Trey and I’m a stay at home dad. As a dad I get off easy when it comes to the whole mommy wars issue. My wife and I don’t raise our children the way that you do. We certainly raise them the way that some of you, but not all of you. They go to sleep earlier than some of your kids, maybe watch more television that yours, possibly use the computer more and probably listen to more kindie. Having said that, so what? Similac is asking for a story from you about how you were judged, criticized or made to feel like a bad parent.

Boogie Board redefines writing and is simple to use

I’m slow to get certain things. When I was introduced to the internet my initial thought was ‘why would I want to know what the weather is in Cairo’?  This was especially ironic because three weeks later I needed to know the weather in Cairo.  The internet was too great for me to comprehend at first. That is exactly the way I interacted with Boogie Board. Great, I’ll be going to the beach in a couple weeks and could use a Boogie Board, was my first thought when asked if I wanted to review them.  However, after trying them out, taking them to meetings and using them I get Boogie Board and see how it can revolutionize writing and taking notes.

The hungry girl, or possibly a grifter… at the picnic

It was a play date with some neighbors and lots of kids at a park. There were about 10 kids in our group and 6 parents. About 20 minutes into the play date a young tween girl came up and started talking to me. She was sweet, but her conversation quickly turned into a canned speech that I felt she had given countless times previously.

A selfie + #UltraHug can = $2,000 for your local project

Selfies are a dividing point. People hate them. People say they hate them, but take them anyway. People love them. Whatever camp you’re in you can now take a selfie of you and your kids with the chance to win $2,000 in cash going towards a local project that needs assistance. Just take a selfie of you and your children, share it on Instagram or Twitter and starting on July 6 the voting begins. The top 20 selfies will be featured online and then the top 10 get their project funded.

We celebrate our last days of diapers #UltraHug and nominate Alpharetta Elementary School.

Fifty cents, the Gup-G and shoveling dog poop

We asked our oldest if he wanted to earn some money taking care of a friend’s animals while they were away. It would involve shoveling out the dog poop form their walk-in outdoor kennel and putting the cat inside every night. He jumped like a rabbit and couldn’t wait to get started. For a month  he’s wanted a Spider-Man night light and we explained to him that with this money he could get that and still have $30 leftover.

Making babies and the many roads of a child’s conversation

Perhaps it should be called the autobahn or the cul-de-sac of a child’s conversation.  It’s those times when you’re innocently talking to a child and they open up a whole new dimension of where you were planning on going with the conversation.  Sometimes it’s an innocent cul-de-sac where the conversation goes round and round while other times it takes that light speed to Endor jump from innocent to hold me tightly, I need a moment. This is a combination of the two of those streets.
