Tips for going to Type-A Parent Conference and saving money!

Attending conferences, regardless of what field you are in is part of doing business. Even in fields that you genuinely live and love what you’re working with, conferences are business. Granted some of that business is very fun and social, but at the end of the day, it’s about your business and what you want it to be come. Blogging conferences, like Type-A Parent Conference in Atlanta are no different. Here are a couple things that make sense for any blogger attending.

Join the #SeekandSquish Twitter party, win some Play-Doh and create

Children love to create things.  Well, everybody loves to create things really.  Ask a child if they can sing and they’ll belt out something with abandon.  Ask an adult the same question and your answer will be more muted.  Ask anyone if they like to play with Play-Doh and you’ll always get the same answer, yes.  Seek and Squish is a new app from Play-Doh where you can squish the Play-Doh creations on the screen to reveal the hiding places of animals.

It’s OK to shop on Thanksgiving Day, really

We are 100% on board with getting great deals on things that we need.   We also purchase our gifts far in advance.  Christmas shopping was 90% completed in January and we’ll purchase gift for the next year this year on Black Friday.  We also worked retail or other jobs that always required us to work on holidays.  This isn’t some “I walked uphill both ways to school” post, rather it’s just a nice note to those who want to shame people into thinking the way that they think.

Moms with Apps-mandatory for parents with kids & technology #Ad

This post is brought to you by Moms with Apps and The Motherhood. All opinions are my own.  For years I browsed the app store and Google Play in search of the best apps for our kids.  I downloaded dozens, nay, perhaps hundreds of apps looking for ones that would teach or entertain our children.  I look at our tablets now and there are only three apps- out of all of those that they still play regularly. Some of the apps were awful from the get go, while others simply lost their mojo or had windows where the kids could purchase things.  Moms with Apps changes all of that by sorting, organizing and classifying apps according to a myriad of categories.

A non-tech review of the D-Link Wireless Range Extender

I’m not a tech guy.  Recently we had two tech issues that challenged me and provided the perfect testing opportunity for the D-Link Wireless Range Extender, the DAP-1320.  It was such a perfect testing opportunity that it’s possibly they sabatoged our internet and planted the idea to move our office to the other end of the house.  Did the D-Link do the trick?

The #ArribaPlanes twitter party, July 10, 9PM, prizes from @BowlAMF and more!

If you have a child under 8 you probably saw Planes last year.  Those adults that saw the movie also enjoyed the voice cameos and some of the hipper jokes too. The story of planes with personality and the underdog tale of Dusty is the stuff that is perfect for movie goers in that age group.    Planes-Fire & Rescue is coming to theaters on July 18 and Bloggin Mamas has teamed up with Disney Pictures, Party City and Bowl AMF for the #ArribaPlanes twitter party on July 10 at 9 PM.

Father’s Day is this weekend.  After Sunday dads can go back to sleeping on the sofa, right?  Actually Kmart does a pretty good job of respecting dad’s year round.  Craftsman Tools are a staple to any dad’s garage and the #MoreForDad twitter party on 6/11 at 1PM ET will help fill in any gaps regarding Father’s Day.
