My ride on the #despicablimp

There are things that I never knew I wanted to do until I was presented with the opportunity to do them. After being provided with the opportunity to ride the #despicablimp I knew that this would be one of those things. A. It’s a blimp, and the only time you ever see those things is at major sporting events. B. It’s a Despicalbimp in the shape of a Minion from Despicable Me.

It’s a blimp and a cartoon character. If they served bacon on the flight I would’ve signed up for anything to allow the experience not to end. Continue reading My ride on the #despicablimp

I’m OK with being called Mr. Mom- depending on who you are

Hi, my name is Trey and I’m a stay at home dad. During the day I care for an 18 month old and 3.5 year old. I get called Mr. Mom a couple of times a week and for the most part it doesn’t bother me. “Oh are doing the Mr. Mom today”, the cashier will innocently say. I’ll politely say, no, I do this full time, they’ll feel stupid and we’ll leave. Continue reading I’m OK with being called Mr. Mom- depending on who you are

Despicablimp is coming to Atlanta on Wednesday, April 17

On April 17 the Despicablimp will be flying around Atlanta. It’s Despicable, it’s a blimp-it’s Despicablimp. If you saw Despicable Me then you’ll immediately recognize the Minions from the movie. Even if you didn’t see the movie you’ve seen the Minions somewhere, they’re cute, yellow and part of pop culture. Continue reading Despicablimp is coming to Atlanta on Wednesday, April 17

Operation Storm is vivid, approachable history at its best

The Hunt for Red October is based on a true story. What if there was an even bigger story out there involving submarines; that is 100% true and would’ve altered the course of the world had things not happened? Imagine a super submarine, capable of carrying aircraft and that is a game changer. That is exactly what the Japanese built and had deployed just before WWII ended. Continue reading Operation Storm is vivid, approachable history at its best

Mr. Joe: Tales from a Haunted Life is not spook-tacular

Mr. Joe is the true story about Joseph Barnett. Early in the book we learn that he sees the peaceful looking head of his recently deceased grandfather in a mirror; and then the apparition follows him down the stairs. However, this isn’t just about a man that sees ghosts, it’s about his life, background and the struggles that a single dad has. Continue reading Mr. Joe: Tales from a Haunted Life is not spook-tacular

Naptime DIY: Return of the Stinkhorn Mushrooms

Last summer stinkhorn mushrooms invaded our garden. Stinkhorn mushrooms are phallic shaped mushrooms that smell like rotting flesh. We killed them once, they came back and then, mercifully, winter came and killed everything in the garden. We saw traces of them a couple weeks ago and chose not to write about it. However, something happened that was so stealthy and insidious that it merits another mention. Continue reading Naptime DIY: Return of the Stinkhorn Mushrooms

How many questions does a toddler ask in one day?

Why are stay at home parents so exhausted at the end of the day? I read a sarcastic article that said that parents are tired because of all the questions they answer during a given day. I put forth the question of how many questions does a toddler ask by marking down each time our 3.5 year old asked me a question. Just for the sake of making it fun I also wrote down the questions, hilarity ensues. Continue reading How many questions does a toddler ask in one day?
