Daddy Mojo’s money saving tip: Parenting pet care co-op

I like to save money.  You probably do too.  Pets can really round out a family.  The lessons that cats and dogs can teach our children add up to help shape them into young adults who don’t run and hide at the sight of a pet.    I met an adult one time who was genuinely scared of cats, shaking, crying, the whole nine yards, THAT woman needed a pet growing up. 5 tips to make parenting easier and more fun

I love the start of a new week.  It gives you the opportunity to move past the mistakes and goofs of last week.  On that note Daddy Mojo made a couple basic parenting mistakes last week.  We know not to do them, but my lack of schedule or planning made them happen.   They may have wasted time, resources or caused Baby Mojo to melt down unnecessarily.   Continue reading 5 tips to make parenting easier and more fun

Consignment sales and (almost) free events

I was cheap before being a dad; now that we’re on essentially one income and have a toddler we’re much more conservative with our money.  Mercifully for parenting frugalistas the consignment sales that seasonally pop up can save you hundreds of dollars.  Factor in a website that publishes family friendly activities, many of which are free and you can start saving serious cash while raising a family and having fun. Travelling with a toddler

Our first trip as a family was to the beach, with an infant.  Nine months later we made the same trip with a toddler.  The second trip was infinitely more enjoyable while we were there, but, was a crying mess going and coming.

The trip down there with a toddler was much worse than coming back and the next trip should be even easier, now that we’ve learned a couple things.  Continue reading Travelling with a toddler

Fashionistas in the suburbs

One of the unintended advantages of being a stay at home dad is not having to wear nice clothes in the daytime.   The only folks that I’ll see are other moms, dads and retail workers.  Sure you have to run errands stop by the library for story time and go on the occasional side trip, but that’s it.   As long as I don’t’ wear clothing that’s ripped or has paint stains I’m all good.

Full disclosure:  I’m no fashion plate.  Most of my clothing has a retro feel, mainly because it consists of large collared shirts from the 70s, Continue reading Fashionistas in the suburbs

Baby Mojo’s first haircut

Baby Mojo was born with a head full of hair.  Literally from the very first instant we saw him he had a dark brown patch of hair on his head that only got longer and lighter as he got older.   At the very tender age of six months old his mother gave him his first haircut.

Around nine months old he was starting to look like a very young member of The Beatles or a background character in Fraggle Rock.  I entertained the idea of Continue reading Baby Mojo’s first haircut

Mothers Day, Part I

I’ll probably have a couple affordable (see free) things to do on Mother’s Day, thus, this is Part I.

If your wife is anything like mine they are looking for something to do on Mothers Day.  A gift is nice, but something to do is really what they want.

In Alpharetta at Scottsdale Farms they’re having horse and carriage rides from 11-2 on May 9.  The rides are free and reservations aren’t required.
