50 Maps of the World, breeds curiosity for young minds

‘Young minds’ is relative when talking about 50 Maps of the World. As a kid, I remember scouring over the world atlas our family had. It was an atlas in the truest sense of the word. There were brown patches for mountains, greens for the valleys, tan for the dessert, and varying blues for the vast amount of water. It was a cold, serious atlas and I loved it. 50 Maps of the World takes that innate curiosity that kids have about the world, enlarges it on brightly colored engaging maps, and amps up the wanderlust.

The Flash 100 Greatest Moments is approachable and detailed

Cheap Trick and The Flash have many things in common. If you ask 10 people to name a great rock band then Cheap Trick would be in many of their lists. They might not be their favorite, but their list will have some Cheap Trick in there. For our money, check out Cheap Trick Steve Albini rerecording. Albini had the band do their sophomore LP, In Color but amped up the power pop. It’s brilliant. The point is that most people like Cheap Trick and most comic book fans like The Flash in much the same way. The Flash 100 Greatest Moments Highlights From the History of the Scarlet Speedster is out and will reinforce your admiration of the yellow lightning cap hero or introduce you to the hero whose action you might have only seen on television.

Fun, detailed and makes you want to read more about the flash

World of Wonder Mountains is rocky edu-tainment for ages 5 through 9

“It’s like a poetry book about animals, mountains and the things that live in the mountains”, our 10-year-old said when he read World of Wonder Mountains. Well, to an extent he is correct in that upper-elementary school overview. The first page he turned to was one of the more poetic pages. It’s about the snow lion and spotlights her massive paws as they maw the snowy crags in some of the impossibly high mountains. It could be viewed as poetry. You could also see it as a snippet into what happens in that spot, at that particular moment to that certain animal.
