Naptime DIY: How to clean an old paint brush

We’ve painted dozens of rooms and at least 2 complete houses, multiple times over the years.  During that time we’ve cleaned some of them not as thoroughly as we should have. That produced paint brushes that can double as a hammer, but cease being able to be used for the purpose that they were purchased. How do you clean an old paint brush that has dried paint on it?

The Father’s Day #DestinationDad resort is Sears #AD

Father’s Day is literally just around the corner.  This brings about the whole discussion of wants and needs.  If I need something, like socks or underwear, then I’ll buy it myself.  However, if I want something, I’ll lay subtle or not so subtle hints for the wife.  Sears has you covered with #DestinationDad this year, those with facial hair, manly traits or techy dispositions will all but try to book a weekend stay at their local store to explore the hours of happenings.

Naptime DIY: How to install a shelf

We recently removed all of the wallpaper in our laundry room and removed a large, unsightly metal shelving unit at the same time.  In doing this it left us with absolutely no area to put spray bottles or other things needed in the laundry room.  If you want to install a shelf, it’s DIY 101, but because we’ve previously done it incorrectly, it warrants pointing out a couple of things.

Free Beneficial Garden Bug Class this weekend at Pike Nursery

We love our garden, even though we don’t know everything about it and often lose more than half of our tomatoes, we love it.  There are also blueberries, raspberries and a couple other edibles in there, but their loss is usually greater than 50%.  Bugs can help me with this and this weekend Pike Nurseries is having a free class to educate folks about the good bugs that can help our gardens.

You really appreciate the grinding noise of your garbage disposal when it’s not working.  The low ‘hmmmmmmm’ that it makes when the blades don’t turn are frustrating.  Once you’ve determined that it needs to be switched out, just how easy is it to replace a garbage disposal?  We were hesitant to do it ourselves, but several of our neighbors said that it was a simple task and sure enough it was, but here are some things that helped us.

A toilet that uses less water: the Delta Corrente Toilet review

At my first house I put a sealed jar of water in the toilet basin in an effort to save money. Archimedes would’ve been proud of me, but even after doing that, the toilet still used over 2.5 gallons of water each time it flushed.  Our new house has better toilets that use less water, but they have just been lapped by the Delta Corrente Toilet. Naptime DIY: How to repair a vacuum cleaner hose

We needed a simple vacuum cleaner, nothing elaborate.  Granted a more expensive vacuum cleaner would be nice, but until I experience it firsthand it’s an expense that can’t be justified.  What to do when you average vacuum cleaner needed a small repair?
