Dad wears a Land’s End Mesh Polo, giveaway and review

Prior to getting married I was a true slob.  I cleaned my house with a leaf blower, only wore rock and roll concert t shirts, slept on a futon that was on the floor and took cold showers for months because I was too lazy to turn the hot water heater on.  The only way I had a collared shirt on it was if it got arrested.  And I haven’t been arrested in more than 20 years, so that would’ve been impossible.

When I got married it cleaned up my act a little bit.  I still had a huge selection of rock and roll t shirts, as well as a couple collared shirts of various styles.  Most of my clothing from the pre marriage days (except for said concert shirts) have some sort of stain or blemish.

One reason it’s gotten better is that this dad doesn’t want to look like a crumb bum while I’m out with our son.  Thus, it was with great joy then that I wore and get to write about the new Mesh Polo from Land’s End.   It’s 100% cotton and comes in a wide variety of colors.  I chose Soft Orange because I’ve been told by my bride that that color compliments my skin tone.

Polo style shirts are nice to wear for guys in the summer because, again, you don’t want to look like a crumb bum, but you need to be cool.  The plain white t shirt is very light and airy, but you also look like criminal when you wear one.  Rock t shirts are fun, but not professional at all.  Also if you’re a man of a certain age it makes you look like you’re desperately trying to hold onto your youth.

I was a bit concerned about wearing the shirt in this amazing heat that we’re having.   The shirt let in air nicely and didn’t feel as heavy as some of the other (stainless) collared shirts that I have.  Another bonus was that the shirt is nice enough to merit wearing a belt, but is also casual enough to go without one.  We went without a belt and Toddler Mojo didn’t complain.

I don’t buy clothing.  It takes something really special or spontaneous for me to purchase clothing.  Is it insanely cheap?  I’ll buy it.  Is it a special occasion, I don’t have any clothing and my wife will go out and buy it?  Sure thing.  Guys don’t shop.  Moms, there is a great reason to get Dad this for Father’s Day.

We’re a lazy, slovenly lot that don’t have any fashion sense.  Left to our own devices we’ll wear Def Leopard concert t shirts or that junky beer garden shirt that has paint stains on the chest.  And we’ll only wear those shirts.  Do us a favor and get us one of these Land’s End Mesh Polo shirts.  Father’s Day is just around the corner, we’ll nap on the sofa around 3:45, go online then and order one.

Giveaway!

There are no mandatory tweets to do.  Just post below why you’d like to have one of these styling Mesh Polo shirts from Land’s End.  Ladies, you can post a response for your other half too.  The shirts will be shipped directly from Lands’ End and the winner will be chosen on June 23.  UPDATE:  We’ve got a winner, Mandy Agnello won a styling Land’s End Mesh Polo for her hubs.  Thanks for entering and dress well Dads!!

I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Dad Central Consulting on behalf of Lands’ End and received a polo shirt to facilitate my review, one to giveaway, and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.

  1. Men’s Polo Shirt, what a nice giveaway and just at the right time for all dads; father’s day!
I work from home and during this time I have to wonderful helpers, my boys ages 5 & 2. While I do have appointments with clients from time to time, I typically wear cargo pocket shorts with a tshirt of some sort and yes the shirts typically have something written on them. I have very little fashion sense but I do try.

I would like to win this Men’s Polo Shirt to be able to dress up and take my wonderful wife and 2 boys out for a nice meal and to simply add to my old, old wardrobe. My wife often tries to buy me shirts and I’m sure she’s trying her best to wake up my internal fashion sense, I just believe it’s hibernating.

You know us guys do have the ability to dress nice, just think about when we were dating; shoes polished or at least clean, nice clean spot free pants, nice clean and sometimes ironed shirt and we actually combed our hair. So the ability is there but we sometimes put fashion in the back seat.

If I win this shirt, I will proudly wear it with a nice pair of khaki pants and will make a www promise to take my wife and kids out for a nice day fun and food.

    Thanks so much!

    Paul

  2. What a great gift! I’ve been a stay-at-home dad for 8 plus years and rarely have a reason to “dress up” (except when I’m playing dress up with my daughter) but I would definitely make a point of wearing this shirt proudly.

    Thanks for the opportunity!

    Bob

    1. We understand. We’ve only been at this for 21 months, but had to start dressing up a little bit. The Land’s End shirt is super comfy. Good Luck and Happy Father’s Day!

  3. I would love to win this shirt for my hubby (it looks great on you)! He almost always wears polo shirts whenever we go out and living here in GA now, he needs more that are breathable ones, like this one! 🙂

    Thanks!!

  4. What a fun giveaway just in time for Father’s Day! Would love to win one of these for my hubby to wear on the weekends. thanks!

  5. I would love to win this for my husband because he rarely buys clothes for himself. He works hard and purchases clothes for our children and myself, but he is content with clothes that he has had for years. I am a stay at home mom so I have not been able to do anything nice for him since I have no income. Anything I do for his bithday, Father’s Day, etc. all comes out of the money that he makes. I know we are married and his money is our money, but it would be nice to be able to give him a gift without him first knowing about it.

    1. Totally understand. Guys don’t like to buy clothing and when/if we do, it’s usually at a second hand store. Good luck and happy SAHMing!

  19. I’d like to win this for my husband. He goes golfing a couple times a week and should be wearing something nicer than his old ratty t-shits.

  20. I would love this for my golfer husband. He never buys clothes and frankly his polo shirts are looking quite washed!

  21. I’d love to win one for my hubby who recently lost a lot of weight and most of his polos are too big now.

  22. My husband would love to have this shirt! He is upper management on a construction site, so this would be perfect for staying cool while looking respectable.

  23. Hi, I would love to win this for my hubby Kelly. He is a mechanic and also trains performance horses, so he is in the public eye a lot. He works so hard at his jobs and also to take care of his family. I had surgery at the end of March and ended up losing my job, so the financial burden has been put all on his shoulders. It would just be really nice to give him something nice. Thanks =) ~~ silverspurs101 at hotmail dot com

  24. I’d like to win this for my husband because he hates to shop for clothes, and this shirt looks nice and comfortable. It looks ideal for summer cookouts. Thanks for the giveaway!

  25. Would love to win because my Husband wears polo’s everyday for work and recently has been struggling to find ones he likes. Gap seem to have changed the design of a lot of theirs because they just do not fit him as well as they did

  26. I would love to win this for my husband ~ he is a hard working man, he works a full time day job and from April-November he has a side business that he does cleaning windows, he works pretty much every Saturday and some evenings in those months so that I can stay home with our 4 kiddos. He works SO HARD and does it with such joy and love for us, I really respect him for that. His “uniform” when he goes to clean windows is a polo and nice jeans or khakis and he really could use a new polo. Thanks :0)
