I read the first issue of The Bunker and didn’t review it. In a way it was like the episode in Star Trek where they first meet the Borg or the let’s kill Hitler episode of Doctor Who. It’s was so imaginative, creative, weird and yet so relatable that you almost wished you hadn’t seen it so that you could watch it for the first time again. I wanted to wait until The Bunker #2 came out to review it, just to see if it could match the level of the first issue. Of long marriages, Charles Schultz, Peanuts and forgotten MLK quotes
You may have heard about the really sweet story from Ohio this past week. An elderly couple, married for 65 years died within 11 hours of each other. Harold Knapke was 91 and his wife, Ruth was 89. They raised six children and they saw their closeness in passing as ‘a final act of love’. Whenever I hear stories like that I’m reminded of Charles Schultz, Peanuts and a not so famous quote from MLK. Continue reading Of long marriages, Charles Schultz, Peanuts and forgotten MLK quotes

So, Ben Affleck is Batman. Outrage, shock, reason, pity and acceptance, it was the 5 stages of actor casting that geeks and fans go through. The Avengers 18: Infinity is a massive, entertaining storyline
Marvel Comics just started the Infinity storyline. Essentially, most of the Marvel superheroes are in outer space with literally every living being. An evil alliance called The Builders has been created and is destroying worlds. In The Avengers 18, Earth’s superheroes suit up, team with a couple of The Builder and try to crack some heads. The Deep: Here Be Dragons #2, loses steam, still a good comic for children
The Deep is a three issue mini-series about a family exploring the deep parts of the ocean in a state of the art submarine. It’s sharply drawn, has realistic family members that young readers will easily relate to and the first issue had enough action to keep boys interested. The Deep: Here Be Dragons #2 doesn’t have as much overall action, but does maintain the series momentum to an extent. Continue reading The Deep: Here Be Dragons #2, loses steam, still a good comic for children
The Deep: Here be Dragons is all age comic book fun at its best

The brother is a prankster, the sister pushes her parents, while mom and dad are just trying to keep it all together, in addition to the ship and their mission. Fatherhood will resonate with parents, especially dads, but that’s it
If Jingle All the Way took out the seasonal aspect, upped the drama and had only one character it would look like Fatherhood. Fatherhood is a one issue comic by Ryan K. Lindsay that follows a loving dad as he looks for his daughter’s favorite new toy to criminal as he does anything to get one. Continue reading Fatherhood will resonate with parents, especially dads, but that’s it
Too Much Coffee Man Favorites #3 is gleefully manic
Somewhere aligned with the single pane of The Far Side and the four panes of Life in Hell sits Too Much Coffee Man. The nonlinear humor in Too Much Coffee Man is similar to Far Side, yet it has the same recurring characters, much like Life in Hell. Is Too Much Coffee Man funny? You bet, it was one of the first independent comics I purchased in the early 2000’s and still packs buckets of wit with sublime, detailed illustrations. Continue reading Too Much Coffee Man Favorites #3 is gleefully manic
