Frankenweenie is the story about young Victor whose dog, Sparky is brought back to life using electricity. Once Sparky comes back to life things go horribly awry for the city, as well as, Victor’s family and friends. When Taken came out in 2008 it was a movie that my wife and I loved. For me it brought back memories of classic Eastwood and Bronson, but with more plot development and bigger stunts. Looper is fresh, original and reminds you of why movies are great
Time travel can be a tough sell to have in an action/science fiction movie. Looper has grand aspirations as it tells the tale of an assassin or Looper who works for the mob from 2072. The send their targets back in time to have them killed 30 years previously. Time travel movies can be confusing if you make it too high brow or scare off the audience that are concerned that they won’t understand. Won’t Back Down is like the New Kids on the Block
Timing is everything, with that said the release of Won’t Back Down couldn’t be better. The Chicago Teachers Union strike just ended and charter school amendments are on many local ballots this November. Hotel Transylvania is not worth checking into
Hotel Transylvania is an animated move about Count Dracula opening up a high end hotel that caters to monsters. The Invisible Man, Frankenstein, a family of werewolves and other monsters come to the hotel to celebrate Mavis (Dracula’s daughter) 118 birthday. The monsters fear humans and everything is fine at the hotel until Jonathan (a hapless human), backpacking across Europe gets lost and ends up at the hotel. Jason Statham movies need to be reviewed by an entirely separate grading system. For the most part he plays a policeman/military guy who has been framed or had his family hurt.
