We’ve been reading to Toddler Mojo since he was born. Now that he’s older, i.e. a toddler, his books are getting more complex. He has his books that are age appropriate, as well as, several that are beyond his reach, but still enjoyable because of the pictures. September iPad apps that will entertain toddlers
The weather is fabulous, but if it were up to our toddler he’d be on the iPad for hours a day. We limit his time to about 20 minutes a day on the iPad. Usually it’s when we’re cooking, cleaning or just need a short break. For now, open up the windows, enjoy that cool breeze and have your toddler check out these great (Free!) apps for your iPad. A Dad’s primer on Pre Kindergarten
The other day I was hanging out with some other parents talking about Toddler Mojo going to pre-K. I mentioned something casually and a friend said, “How many days is your child going to Pre K”? Well five, of course, kids go to school five days a week everybody knows that. It was then that I realized I needed to get up to speed ASAP on pre- K. Daddy Mojo reads: The End of Molasses Classes by Ron Clark
For people outside of Atlanta the name Ron Clark may solely be regulated to a television movie in 2006 that told the story of Clarks teaching experience in New York City. Ron Clark was Disney’s American Teacher of the Year in 2000 and has appeared on Oprah, CNN, The Today Show and others. In 2008 the Ron Clark Academy, a private school for students in grades 5-8, opened on the south side of Atlanta. In short, Ron Clark is the teacher that everybody wants to have for one reason or another. Continue reading Daddy Mojo reads: The End of Molasses Classes by Ron Clark
Week 22-Mom and Dad your baby is the size of a papaya!
Moms, your little person inside you is the size of a papaya! Dads, to put his in perspective, the next time you’re in the fruit and vegetable isle of your grocery store look for a papaya. A papaya is one of those strange foods that is both fruit and vegetable. It looks like a really large lemon with just a hint of dark green in some spots.
I’m in the store at least three times a week and aren’t sure if I’ve ever seen one. There is a section in the fruit isle with all sorts of strange things, it could be in there, but some of them scare me. It’s the island of lost toys for fruits: there’s the brown, sickle shaped thick thing with thorns and somewhere in there is probably the papaya. Unless your name is Gilligan or Beyr Grills you probably have no idea what a papaya is or how to eat one. Continue reading Week 22-Mom and Dad your baby is the size of a papaya!
Daddy Mojo reads: Sgt. Rock, The Lost Battalion
As a kid I didn’t read St. Rock often. A friend of mine had a big stash of war and western comics, like Weird War, Sgt. Rock and Jonah Hex; while I had Spiderman and Superman. Mine were more mainstream and my friends’ comics had a historic feel like you were looking back at real events in time. Continue reading Daddy Mojo reads: Sgt. Rock, The Lost Battalion
Daddy Mojo’s books for the Toddler: Story Time for Lamb
We stumbled across Story Time for Lamb by Michael Dahl at our local library. It’s a cardboard book with bright colors and a big eyed sheep on the front cover reading a book. After a quick glance on the back cover we learned that the book promotes early concepts, animal recognition, speaking skills and….wait where’s Toddler Mojo? Continue reading Daddy Mojo’s books for the Toddler: Story Time for Lamb
Rookie Dads is June 16, 6:30-8PM at Baby on the Go, Roswell
It seems like only yesterday I was a freewheeling childless guy who didn’t have a clue about what to expect in regards to raising children. The learning curve from expectant father to Dad is huge and there are loads of questions that you don’t know you need to ask.
The old saying, you don’t know what you don’t know applies very well to expectant fathers. You’re looking forward to it, but there is so much to learn and the only way to gain that knowledge is through experience. It’s the yin and yang of parenting. Continue reading Rookie Dads is June 16, 6:30-8PM at Baby on the Go, Roswell
