Steve McQueen, a Mustang, Charger and our #FirstCarMoment #ad

I partnered with Life of Dad and Michelin for this promotion.  I have received compensation for my participation, but my first car memories are my own and I’m jealous of my 16YO self. My dad wanted me to be Steve McQueen. Granted he never actually told me that, nor have I seen my dad avidly watching his old movies, but he did. My first car was a 1968 white Ford Mustang. The year was 1984, Van Halen just released their classic album (ask your mom kids) and I was driving one of the coolest cars ever. That’s our #FirstCarMoment and while I don’t remember what tires were on it; I can say that our son’s first car won’t be as cool as mine, but it’ll darn sure have great quality tires.

Is this really what #ImBornToDo this Father’s Day? #spon

That’s a tricky question, what are you born to do? If you don’t change the world by the age of 25 have you failed? What if you don’t have as much stuff as your parents by the time that you’re a certain age? I’d guess that very few people really know what they’re born to do. For the most part they improvise, accept certain things, learn new tricks and hopefully love-or at least enjoy what they do in this life. Whatever stage of life you’re in it’s worth checking out #ImBornTo to learn about the March of Dimes and discover countless ways that you can support them and have probably been helped by them.

HH Gregg for Father’s Day and beyond makes cents #ad

We were compensated for this post. All thoughts are our own, our money saving, technology loving own. Today we went to the Ultimate Chore Challenge Obstacle Course at an HH Gregg near us. It was a one day event where people could compete in basic household chores for the chance to win big prizes.  There were plenty of kids involved in the activities and there are even lots of options for everyone to win, especially on Father’s Day.

Inside Out is Pixar at its best #FandangoFamily

Name a movie studio that produces quality films and Pixar is almost certainly one of the first ones that you mention. Sure the other studios have hits and produce quality films, but Pixar has an expectation level that accompanies no other studio. Inside Out is Pixar’s 15th feature film and stands beside Toy Story in regards as what to expect from them and how good an animated film can be.

Dads clean up, but just in case Merry Maids can too #ad

We were compensated for this post. All thoughts are our own and the stories, regardless of how dirty are true. The fabulous house cleaning debate varies from house to house. In our house we do a fair job of splitting the cleaning duties. Overall, I do most of the cleaning, but that’s just because I’m the stay at home parent. Most is relative because there are still many periods when my wife starts cleaning something or asks me to get on it. The Merry Maids Father’s Day Program did a study that has results that might surprise some folks, plus they’re giving away a house cleaning and other groovy prizes.

New all age comic books for Wednesday, June 17, 2015

If there is a theme this week for the new all age comic books it’s ‘fresh’. I don’t Kool and the Gang fresh, I mean newer titles that haven’t been around as long as the classics. There are still a handful of classic titles out this week, but by and large it’s new stuff that the kids are reading-and it’s great.

We’re excited about all of them, but are really curious to check out Mega Man. At this year’s Free Comic Book Day I looked over their offering and was impressed. This is a good time to jump on this comic because they’re in the middle of a crossover with Sonic. From what I’ve seen of it the series has enough action, while keeping the story and vocabulary OK for all ages.

Also of note this week is Teen Titans! GO, Usagi Yojimbo, Spongebob Comics Annual Swimtacular, Simpsons Comics, Lumberjanes and a couple books of old school Peanuts comic strips. The links will take you to Things From Another World and save you at least 20% on the titles. If you want to find you local comic book store just go here, find it and support small businesses.

The kids watch what dad watched on Netflix #StreamTeam

This was a compensated post, all thoughts and TV recommendations are our own. Our children are 5 and 3; while they can watch some PG things on television it’s kept G for the most part. I look forward to when they can watch the classics that I grew up with. Certainly there will be some new classics that they enjoy, but I want to see how they like what I liked as a child. That, plus it gives me an excuse to watch them again…for the purpose of family bonding.

A selfie + #UltraHug can = $2,000 for your local project

Selfies are a dividing point. People hate them. People say they hate them, but take them anyway. People love them. Whatever camp you’re in you can now take a selfie of you and your kids with the chance to win $2,000 in cash going towards a local project that needs assistance. Just take a selfie of you and your children, share it on Instagram or Twitter and starting on July 6 the voting begins. The top 20 selfies will be featured online and then the top 10 get their project funded.

We celebrate our last days of diapers #UltraHug and nominate Alpharetta Elementary School.
