I Love Lucy I ♥ Mom Edition, timeless comedy for all

When I was a kid I Love Lucy was on television in the afternoons. I remember it was sometime before Wild Wild West and after Lancelot Link Secret Chimp. There aren’t too many episodes of I Love Lucy that I distinctly remember. As a child the black and white seemed to throw my attention elsewhere. As an adult watching the special four episode collection, I ♥ Mom, I understand why I Love Lucy is one of the classic sitcoms of all time.

Ramblings of children: The fur on my arm is getting longer

When you drive children around in the car it’s a conversation roulette wheel. Sometimes it’s meaningless whispers and other times it’s priceless conversation akin to learning a second language.

Jake:  “The fur on my arm is getting longer”
Note: when you’re a parent you learn to think in the abstract. Your kid may seem like he’s muttering without purpose or syntax, but you can understand them. Thus, when he said this-and after a quick look back in the rear view mirror I knew what he was talking about.

Walt Disney’s Uncle Scrooge returns to comic books

Before now one of the major voids in comic books was Walt Disney. How can a company that has created dozens upon dozens of classic characters not consistently produce comic books? That question has been answered with IDW now printing Disney Comics. It all starts with Uncle Scrooge #1 (405) and will continue with Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse and Walt Disney’s Comics and Stories.

Little Boy is a mixed bag of message, magic #FandangoFamily

The trailer for Little Boy and the actual film are quite different.  In a way that’s a good thing because the trailer does not give away key points of the film. The trailer presents a film that focuses on an 8 year old boy whose father goes off to war and the bond that connects them. That aspect of the plot runs all the way through it, mixed in with some childhood bullies, lessons in being different and what life was like in the mid 1940’s. The film is a  mix of drama, comedy and war movie, but those descriptions aren’t the reason for the mixed bag.

Little Boy, inspiration and a boy’s love for his father

Little Boy is a film that I’ll be watching soon for #FandangoFamily. It’s rated PG-13 so I won’t be taking our children who are three and five, but from the reviews that I’ve read it’s a solid film for date night, teens and the upper age tween children. Little Boy is the story about the relationship between an eight-year-old boy and his dad.

Earthworm Ensemble, pleasant, Earthy tunes for more than organic kindie

The latest release from Earthworm Ensemble, Backyard Garden is more than kid friendly from the get-go.  Its cover gives you a heads up that (most of) the disc is packed with songs that any age can relate to about the backyard, gardening and all things eco. All of the songs are great for kids and the, pardon the pun, organic sound of them will allow them to learn and appreciate a wide variety of musical instruments.  All of the songs are groovy, upbeat and easy going, but the disc would’ve benefited from being a very strong 10 songs instead of a more bloated feeling 13 songs.

Denny’s Denny’s and eating out with the children #ad

I’m a Denny’s Ambassador and was compensated for this post.  All thoughts are our own because, bacon and children. For a two year period, when I lived in Japan I ate at Denny’s at least once a week.  You’re in a faraway place with any number of food options, but sometimes, you just want what you know. For the record the food was just as delicious and affordable as it is in the states. Now that I’m a dad I took the boys to Denny’s for their first time and here’s what we learned.
