Fraggle Rock, Journey to the Everspring 3 continues classic Fraggle fun

What’s a Fraggle?  What’s a Muppet?  Isn’t a Muppet merely a Fraggle that lives underground and sings more often?  No, not really.  People have been clamoring for a Blu-ray release of the television series for a while to no avail.  To them I would submit that there are still lots of Fraggle charm and proof of that is in the four issue mini-series Journey to the Everspring.

Kicking it with King Julian, Iron Monkey and more #StreamTeam

Hey, hey, we’re part of the #StreamTeam over at Netflix and were compensated for this post. All thoughts are our own.  I’ve never been too big on New Year’s Eve.   I’m even less of a fan now that I have a 3 and 5 year old alarm clock that wake us up every day at 6:30.  Netflix is helping parents on several fronts, one of them being a flexible New Years Eve countdown with Kind Julian and I’m highlighting some great things that you can stream now on Netflix.

Super Dinosaur 23 rips apart expectations for an all age comic

One of the best reviewed all age comic books in recent memory is Super Dinosaur.  It’s the story of Derek Dynamo, a ten-year old boy and his best friend a nine-foot tall Tyrannosaurus Rex. They play video games, fight other monsters, various baddies and have fun.   It’s a great comic for any age, but they dropped off the map with issue 22 in February, 2014.  Super Dinosaur 23 is here, it’s great, but don’t get too comfortable with the characters.

New all age comic books for Wednesday, December 31, 2014

It’s the final new comic book day of the year and it looks like publishers really took that to heart.  There are less than a dozen new comics hitting stores and only one of them is an all age comic book.   It’s a great week to play catch up, look for some releases from BOOM, Bongo, Archaia, or Oni that you might have missed.  Oh, it’s not that I don’t love some Marvel or DC, but when it comes to all age comic books they just don’t have the number or quality releases as the independent publishers.   Soap box aside, on with the comic (s)!

Abigail and the Snowman

Abigail and the Snowman #1

Star Trek Planet of the Apes #1

OK, this is not really an all age comic book, but because the week is thin on new releases it merits a mention.  I love Star Trek.  I love Planet of the Apes.  I’ve wanted to get a look at this comic ever since I heard about it.

Chuggington StackTrack Koko’s Icy Escapade review and Snow Rescue giveaway

Oh Chuggington, we’ve avoided you for so long.  Really, we need another train show like we need small, pointy toys on the floor that the children don’t pick up.  To my surprise, both children, the 5 and 3YO loved the DVD, Snow Rescue and the playset, Koko’s Icy Escapade.

Win $25 in M-GO credit, just in time for cold, sofa weather

7 years ago my wife and I spent a great New Year’s Eve night in watching movies. We were renovating a house and sat on the sofa with stuff piled up all around us, watched various Bruce Lee movies and stayed under the blankets.  It was awesome and with prime, cold weather movie time is just around the corner this $25 in M-GO credit is just the ticket for any and everyone.

New all age comic books for Wednesday, December 24, 2014

Twas the day before Christmas and all through the (comic book) store, a couple of creatures were stirring to tempt young readers galore.  Because it’s a semi-holiday comic book stores will have abbreviated hours.  All age comic books make great stocking stuffers.  Their price point will be $2.99 or $3.99 and can entertain a child for hours.  Another bonus about lots of the all age comic books out today is that many of them are equally appealing to boys, as well as, girls.

We’re really looking forward to Super Dinosaur, Adventure Time and Batman 66’.  A curious look will be given to Capture Creatures to see if it has more creatures or action than the first issue too.   Oh, we prematurely put McBain, the one-shot, out last week.  It comes out today, now say it in your best McBain accent.

Adventure Time #35

Amazing World of Gumball #6

Batman 66 #18

Bee and Poppycat #7

Capture Creatures #2

McBain #1

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic #26

Penguins of Madagascar #2 (of #4)

Sonic Universe #71

Super Dinosaur #23

Peanuts #24 is how an old school cartoon should age

There is this new all age comic book called “Peanuts”.  It’s the story of a group of kids, a friendly dog who thinks that he’s a fighter pilot and a curious yellow bird named after a 60’s rock concert.  Of course you’ve heard of Peanuts before, it’s a 60 year old comic strip that’s been made into holiday specials, numerous book and is classic.  What is surprising is how well-and effective the new stories in the Peanuts comic book are for new readers or old school fans.
